This is a handy little stand for when something short is preferable. I find it to be well made, the locking cams easy to work and offer a useful range of adjustments.
My one caution is that it's best used with lightweight microphones or your setup will require extra care. One of my applications for this is for a larger ribbon mic on upright bass. For this the boom must be kept pulled back quite close to the stand and care taken to orient one leg directly under the mic, otherwise it's quite unstable. Longer legs or a boom-end weight would make it work better. Weighing down the two legs at the back of the stand could also be a workable solution.
I'd be cautious with large diaphragm condensers, most ribbon mics etc. Should be okay with most small diaphragm condensers, SM57 and smaller dynamics, but even then bear in mind that the boom can extend quite far for a stand with such a small base.
