I can only imagine the reason these are as well priced as they are is because ART doesn't have the industry presence some of these other companies do. The design is clean, and the sound is even cleaner. The price to performance can't be beat.
Replaced my Yamaha HS7s with Yorkville HSM8s in my main home studio. Then replaced my Yorkville HSM8 after 1 month with these ART RM5 monitors. Haven't looked back once! These are clearer than both the HS7s and the HSM8s. I was concerned that the RM5s wouldn't have the depth of the HSM8 but I couldn't have been more wrong. With the 3 settings on the ART (Reference, Hi-fi and Theatre) you have so much variety in how you'd like to listen. Because I have a KRK 10" sub, I prefer to listen in Hi-Fi or Reference mode. But without a sub, even independently these things are so deep! They have the clarity of the HS7 (6.5in driver) and the depth of the HSM8 (8in driver), even though these things are rocking oa little 5in driver. The technology they use of converting the sides of the cabinets into essentially they're own 8" woofer brings all the depth that would otherwise be missing with a driver this size. I'm so impressed with these that I may buy another set to go in my bedroom for easy listening, which is where I graduated my Yam HS7s to.
Well done ART! Canadian made. :)

These monitors are amazing! Don't be confused by the size. They are super convenient for small desks but in fact speakers have more working area than many other conventional monitors. Very clever design. Every monitor has two big speakers on both sides (in addition to front ones) with the working area comparable to 2 x 8" guitar cabinets! Two monitors are equivalent to 4 x 8" :-) Absolutely happy how my electric bass and guitar sound now. I think it is time to sell my Headrush FRFR-108. The only complain is the price but no regrets :-)

These monitors are unusual, but don't let that turn you away from them. Despite the shallow form factor, these produce deep, rich bass and have power to spare. The master/slave arrangement of having all the power and input connectivity associated with just one of the monitors and then a link cable to the second monitor is really handy for reducing cable clutter. The all metal body, the fact that they are manufactured in Canada, and the excellent sound performance really help these stand head and shoulders above other options in the price bracket like Adam T7V or the Focal Alpha 65. Definite recommend.

These monitors came highly recommended by L&M staff. The Art RM5 have not disappointed me. These monitors offer the best sound I have heard at this price point. The highs are crisp, the lows are warm. Bestbof all, if you need a bottom end with punch; trust me; you will feel it. I've owned these monitors for over a year They were originally purchased to replace my speakers for my home audio editing system. I believe these units would also be powerful pairjng with any micro home audio system. I also love the the fact that i can use my Cellphone's blue tooth for playback of digital audio I have recorded while in the field.

On my old studio monitors, I had a neighbour knock and say, “what ever it is you’re listening to, the thumping is annoying.” Tends to happen with poor sound quality. Now though, with these RM5s, he doesn’t need to knock anymore, because now he knows exactly what I’m listening to. Highly recommended, absolutely incredible sound. Top notch!

Very impressed so far, excellent sound reproduction, tight bass, crisp highs. DSP modes and room switch make for tailored sound listening depending on speaker placement, Bluetooth is an added bonus for sure and well built nice and heavy. Glad I chose them over the KRK,s. Best of all is there made in Canada!!!

I had been on the hunt for some studio monitors for a while. I had tested multiple monitors out in the store and even taken some home to try out. My biggest problem was space. I knew I wanted bigger monitors but I just couldn't afford the space. A sales associate suggested these to me. I was a little taken back by the design. They looked like nothing I had seen on the market. I didn't really know what to think of them. That was until I witnessed what they were capable of in person. just looking at them I thought there would be no way they would be able to produce any sort of low-end due to how shallow their design was. Was I ever wrong. The Duel opposing passive radiators make these things sound more than twice as big as any 8" monitor you'll ever come across. it still screws with my head a bit as I can't seem to grasp just where all the low-end comes from. it's really something to witness for yourself. there's also the crispness of the ring radiators. The highs are extremely detailed and crisp without a hint of sounding brittle. If these will last me forever I will never want another set of monitors. the features they have also set them apart from other monitors on the market. different DSP modes for reference Hi Fi and theatre, not to mention the Bluetooth connectivity make these things more versatile than a Swiss Army knife. one thing to note however. The radiators on the left speaker need a little bit of Break In Time and some volume pushed through them before they begin to fire properly. be patient and you will be rewarded with amazing sound.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
