JB-2 Angry Driver is a new pedal co-developed with JHS Pedals to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Boss compact pedals.

Housed in the classic BOSS compact design, the JB-2 Angry Driver pairs the tones of the iconic BOSS BD-2 Blues Driver with JHS Pedals' popular Angry Charlie. Working closely together, the two pedal innovators have developed an all-new combined circuit with refined sound and performance perfectly tuned for dual-mode drive operation.

The JB-2 Angry Driver features three dual-concentric knobs that provide independent drive, tone, and level control for each overdrive type. Via a six-position mode selector, you can use each overdrive independently, or combine them together in series and parallel configurations. With the ability to blend the Blues Drivers famously expressive low-to-mid gain tones with the Angry Charlie's aggressive rock voice in any combination, the JB-2 Angry Driver delivers unmatched range and versatility from a single overdrive pedal.

Just buy this pedal for the Blues Driver alone!, It sounds great, one fine noise Maker.

I had one of these initially. I thought it was decent but not spectacular. Sold it. Never tried it at a live gig with my band. I thought all my other more expensive boutique pedals were way better, UNTIL, I bought another and finally took it to a gig with a loud rock band live. WOW! This pedal has that tone, that frequency cut through. It doesn’t matter if it’s on the Blues Driver or Angry Charlie side, it sounds amazing and cuts through in a great way. This Blues Driver is improved. Tweaked for the good over the original, and the Angry Charlie, what can you say. Initially you may think Charlie is one dimensional, thin, compressed? It isn’t. It’s perfection in over drive. I choose to run the pedal in Boss/ JHS mode using a Boss FS-5L in the side Jack to turn pedal on or off and pedal itself to toggle between the two. It’s killer in every way. I found myself ignoring every other high end drive pedal ( of way too many) on my board. It’s that good! Don’t write off the JB 2 too quickly, especially if you haven’t tried it live at gig volumes. Work with it a while. It’s now my#1 drive pedal.

Total newb to electric guitar and grabbed one of these used. Great deal for an awesome pedal. 2 in 1 how can you go wrong. I have a BD-2W and find myself using the Angry Driver the most.

Dude from Hamilton...maybe it's not for you. That doenst make it rubbish. I had zero trouble dialing in tones in any mode. Boosting, non boost and using in the front of an amp, no issues. The more transparent the amp, the better. I have a deluxe reverb, Peavey 5150, JCM900 MKIII and more. Never had issues. Remember, its a blues driver and a JCM800 type sound in a box together. Its super versatile and easy to tweak. My preference is using the parallel mode into the deluxe reverb for just an incredible hard rock sound For Boosting, I use the blues driver mode on all the higher gain amps...its great. No complaints. This is a great pedal. Now, it may not be for everyone depending on your tone but trust me.... it's worth trying out.

I saw this pedal and thought "WOW! So many options. The versatility! It's so unique and different! I can get a nice bluesy tone for slick Joe Perry leads then a harder driven sound for Zeppelin rhythm sections. After an encounter at the music store, I thought it was decent and saw potential. But as soon as I took it home that's when things got dicey. To get just an average tolerable sound out of this pedal is like trying to solve an aerobics cube blindfolded. It's as if I'm in a toxic relationship with a beautiful person who keeps hissing at me no matter what I do. Every button I push to fix the problem just adds to another one. Like it's mad at me for no reason. And after a session of fighting with this thing and trying to play it out, I have that throbbing ache right between the eyes. No matter how you dial it, the pedal has that "too much" sound, especially with high frequencies. I ran it into my MXR EQ to sand things down and smooth it out, but that only made things more complicated. Switching neck/bridge & bridge/neck doesn't do much either. You'll never be happy. For example, just to simplify things, I had this pedal set to the blues driver setting (blue LED) with the drive dialed to lets say a 2-3. Still, too much pricking at the eardrum. Adjusting the tone knob doesn't help give any color. Have the knob dialed to 0 and you're pale white. Add more tone and you are always ever so close to a Ross Geller-esque spray tanning incident. Open chords feel lost and disenchanted. Power chords on driven settings sound hungover. As if they are all ashamed of the pedal they are working for and are merely trying to get through the shift. Just like your audience will be if you dare put this on your rig. I'm running my pedalboard straight into a powerstage 700. All other tone pedals sound as they should and behave well despite the odd setup. All of which are less money and more simple in design. I think it's a good idea to try this pedal out at the music store to see what I'm talking about. By all means try out all the different functions. And then a better idea is to LEAVE IT at the music store. Dump it and don't look back. Don't worry, there are plenty of other drive pedals on the shelf! Find a pedal who understands you! You deserve it.

This pedal is the combination of the Angry Charly (JHS) and the Blues Driver (Boss). The pedal can go from a heavy distortion sound to a light overdriven tone by tapping the foot pedal. I use it as my stage two overdrive and it gives me a great single-coil lead tone. Partnered with the Boss FS-5L the pedal truly acts as two separate pedals. I wanted something that I had complete control over the EQ and this pedal has the full EQ for both pedals because of the great dual pot EQ design. Can't wait to see what this partnership brings out next!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
