ADVANCED TONE TOOLS FOR SERIOUS ACOUSTIC PLAYERS

Anyone who plays an amplified acoustic guitar on stage knows what a challenge it is to get a sound that's as inspiring as playing the instrument acoustically. The AD-10 is your solution to this age-old problem, offering advanced sound tools that enable you to achieve rich, natural acoustic tones every time you perform. At its core, the AD-10 is a fully featured, dual-channel acoustic preamp/DI pedal with premium audio quality, deep sound-shaping options, and flexible connectivity. On top of that, ambience, chorus, and delay effects are built in, eliminating the need to carry external sound processing.

But the AD-10 takes acoustic preamp design to an all-new level with its standout feature - BOSS's groundbreaking Acoustic Resonance processing. This advanced tech restores the complex body and string resonances that are lost with most pickup systems, bringing back the expressive, organic vibe that's so vital to the acoustic experience. And the features keep on coming, with transparent anti-feedback controls, memories for sound setups, an 80-second looper, USB audio, and much more. Hugely powerful yet simple to use, the compact AD-10 is your all-in-one companion for realizing impressive acoustic tones in every performing environment.

Preserve Your Sound with Multi-Level Feedback Protection

Because of their highly resonant construction, acoustic guitars are prone to problems with low-frequency feedback in stage situations. There are many variables that factor into the severity of feedback issues, including the instrument type, the pickup system, the location of the instrument relative to the speakers, and more. The advanced processing engine in the AD-10 goes well beyond the capabilities other preamps, providing multiple levels of feedback protection that are engineered to produce maximum results with little-to-no tone colouration.

Onboard BOSS Effects, Optimized for Acoustic Guitar

Alongside its powerful abilities to shape and maintain your core acoustic tone, the AD-10 includes a wide-range of built-in effects that sound great and are easy to use. The single-knob compressor delivers much more than meets the eye, employing BOSSs acclaimed MDP tech to transparently control your dynamics with intelligent processing. Acoustic guitars love reverb, and the AD-10's Ambience effect offers three types of high-quality reverberation specially tuned for guitar. There's also a delay with standard, mod, and reverse types, plus three different variations of BOSS's famous sound-widening stereo chorus effect.

Features:

• Professional preamp/DI for performing and recording with acoustic-electric guitar
• Acoustic Resonance restores the warm and rich resonance lost with most pickup systems
• Four-band EQ and variable low-cut filter tuned to deliver optimized tone shaping for acoustic guitar
• Multi-band compressor with MDP technology provides transparent dynamics control

Solid unit, typical Boss. Easy to dial in a great sounds, and with some commitment you can menu-dive to do a lot of fine-tweaking. The tuner is "meh" and I may continue to use my tuner pedal in the chain. Here's the biggest "ohhh, so close..." issue for me. I love the dual inputs, selectable, etc., but I want to be able to route the inputs separately to the L and R XLR outs. What's that you say? You can? Yes, BUT...only dry signal (dry plus reverb and EQ I think). Why you can't route the inputs separately out the L and R XLR with the option to select wet or dry is beyond me. Also, I believe the effects loop is post the unit's effects, which means the boost drives the effects in the loop harder. My preference would be to have some more control over where the effects loop is inserted. Other than these issues (which I can pretty much find work-arounds for), I'm happy with it; sounds great.

I've been using pedals with acoustic guitar for 5 years now (I can't believe I've played for a decade without pedals). Through those years, I relied on my trusty Zoom A2 to be the lead pedal, amongst my delay, Line 6 M5 (for ambient sounds), volume pedal and looper. I couldn't bad mouth the A2 if I tried but realized I need to upgrade and get a preamp that would be well suited for the Church system I play through. I had my eye on the Boss AD-10 and the T-Rex Soulmate Acoustic. At first it looked like it was going to be the T-Rex because of its Shimmer effect but realized it didn't have an effects loop! That was the deal breaker, since I have other effects that have become my favourite over the years. I tested the AD-10 and even at everything off, it already made a positive difference on my Taylor 214CE, which happens to be tinny and overbright sometimes. I turned on the resonance, and man, I'm blown away! I can't stop playing the acoustic now. All the other effects are top notch as well. I can see myself being able to get by with just the AD-10 though I'd really miss my other pedals. I highly recommend this to any serious acoustic guitar player, and to the pedal noobs (like I once was). It's so easy to get really good tones out of your acoustic through this unit with just a few taps and couple of knob-turnings.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
