Galaxy Music Comfort, Comfort Now My People - Culloton - SSAA
Additional Photos:
Lyrics: Johann G. Olearius (1635-1711), Catherine Winkworth, tr. (1827-1878)
Composer: Michael Culloton
Format: Choral Octavo
Voicing: SSAA with flute and optional Hand Drum ad lib.
"I really enjoy the lilt of the original tune, and was drawn to arrange it when I was struggling to find up-tempo music for the season of Advent that my womens choir would enjoy singing. Work to make sure that the music maintains an air of 'dance' to it. To help with this, you may consider adding an ad libitum hand drum as I did for our own performances. The second verse allows for a bit of musical drama as the flute becomes a partner in the storytelling as the crying voice, warning cry, rising valleys, and bowing hills." - Michael Culloton
