Get down and dirty with the AfterShock Bass Distortion. On its own the AfterShock features three massive bass distortion engines, but connect the pedal to the Neuro Mobile App (a free download for iOS and Android) and feast upon a massive collection of additional overdrive, fuzz and distortion tones. Further edit each engine with the Neuros parametric EQ, stereo routing options, and internal stacking capabilities.

Out of the box, the AfterShock Bass Distortion packs three bass overdrive engines that span the gamut of low-end crunch, from smooth and natural overdrive to full-on fuzz attack. The Tube engine belts out a subtle, but powerful vintage tube overdrive with a smooth breakup and plenty of punch. Heavy creates an aggressive scooped sound with ample highs and thundering lows. The Fuzz engine offers intense germanium fuzz tones with loads of bottom and mucho grit. The Aftershocks simple, yet powerful control panel provides the tools to finely sculpt the perfect bass tone. The Clean knob lets you to mix in just enough clean signal to maintain a rock-solid low-end without compromising the pedals SONIC GROWL. Adjust the onboard Tone control and find that thunderous sweet spot for any bass/amp combination.

By itself the AfterShock offers tremendous tonal range, but dig a little deeper and discover its hidden power and flexibility. Every pedal in the One Series line is compatible with the Neuro Mobile App (a free download for iOS or Android). Connect the AfterShock to the Neuro App and access its extended equalization capabilities as well as Source Audios free library of over 40 overdrive, fuzz, and distortion algorithms for bass AND guitar each algorithm can be downloaded directly to the pedal. Plus, every One Series pedal is fully MIDI compatible when coupled with the Neuro Hub (formerly Soundblox Hub), providing the power to save up to 128 different presets.

Features:

  • 3 Distinct Fuzz Engines.

  • 3 Presets - use Preset Mode to save a different preset to each of the three toggle switch positions. When the pedal is engaged, all of the parameters instantly jump to their saved value, regardless of the knob positions.

  • Stereo Input and Output Jacks - Distort upstream stereo signals, split a mono signal to dual outputs, or use the additional in and out as an external effects loop.

  • Stackable Fuzz and Drive Engines - Dual fuzz/drive engines and stereo inputs and outputs make it possible (via the Neuro App) to stack any combination of drives in either series or parallel as well as split the signal and send a separate drive engine to each of the pedal's outputs.

  • Universal Bypass - Select either analog buffered or relay based True Bypass.

  • External Control - Compatible with Source Audio expression pedals, the Source Audio Tap Tempo switch (which also acts as an external switching mechanism), and the Hot Hand 3 Universal Wireless Effects Controller.

This does as advertised. You can dial in what you want with incredible detail. The default presets sound so good though, I still use them.

The options are endless! You can literally design your own distortion with 6 preset channels... changing the channels on the fly isnt really an option as its a tiny toggle switch, but that is literally my only complaint. This is the pedal to get!

The stock pedal sounds great, and for the "plug-and-play" players, the three stock presets sound amazing by themselves. But if you want to dig into the neuro software in the pedal, you can access 40-odd dirt pedal simulators, as well as lot of options (5-band parameteric EQ (including the Voice Frequency) noise gate, clean boost, HPF, parallel-stereo/dual channel processing, series-cascade/stacked processing, noise gate, etc). I've been chasing Geddy's tone on Cygnus X-1 for years on a low budget, but pretty much found it impossible to do without a bunch of pedals (splitters, blenders, EQs, and distortion), which was more than what I could afford. Plus changing tones to something more conventional, on the fly, would be cumbersome. Using the Neuro software, I was able to dial in that tone using the "mono-in/stereo-processing/mono-out" feature with a clean bass/low-mid boost, in parallel with a clanky upper-mid OD signal; and it sounds great! That's also just 1 of my available 6 presets... The possibilities are endless. This is one of the best bass purchases I have ever made.

This pedal pedal can get great dirt sounds right out of the box, but if you dig into the features buried in the app and online, it becomes such a powerful device. It may be digital, but I defy you to hear the difference. If you're looking for a pedal to experiment with the various levels of dirt that exists, plus the ability to stack and blend in clean this pedal beats the rest. Muffs, Darkglass, Tube like dirt, Klons, Octave Fuzz, Rats, they're all here.

Easily one of the best bass pedals out there - if you like to have a big variety of sound effects to choose from. I know of no other pedal that gives you more drive/fuzz options.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
