Really Good Music Annika - Boras - Jazz Ensemble - Gr. Advanced
Composer: Tom Boras
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Jazz Ensemble
Level: Advanced
"Annika" was written in 1993 by Tom Boras who was then the Director of Jazz Studies at New York University. This is a chart with a Latin feel that alternates with a heavy duty Funk feel. It features a Soprano sax player and a number of other solists. The writing is very clever as it sounds as if there is a band within the band. Different combinations of duets, trio, quartets and quintets state the melody throughout the chart. Everyone has to be on their musical "toes". Surprizingly different ending than most charts..very refreshing. 55 page score.
