I can hardly count how many of these have broken at the bolt where the boom arm slides.
I've been using one for no more than 3 months and it's already broken and essentially useless. Pretty inexcusable when all it's been doing is sitting next to my desk being as gently used as possible.

It is a mic stand, what is there to say? Well for one thing, these stands always fail in the same spot. The butterfly bolt that tightens the boom arm as it slides is tapped through soft pot metal. After repeated tightening the threads on the housing strip and you can no longer tighten the boom arm slide. This has been happening for years and L and M (Apex) throw their rentals away (whole stands) for this reason. If yours break, or if you find them outside the L and M dumpster like I have in the past, just get an slightly oversize butterfly nut and gently thread it through and make new threads. Then, just snug it up and it should be good. L and M should really address this weakness.
