The PreSonus Studio 192 Mobile USB 3.0 audio interface delivers exceptional sonic fidelity, flexible connectivity, and professional monitoring and mixing controls in a compact desktop design. Whether you're a producer, an audio engineer, an independent band, a sound designer, or all of the above, your Studio 192 Mobile was built for you to create.

The Studio 192 Mobile gives you a powerful combination audio interface and studio command center. With pristine audio up to 192 kHz, Fat Channel DSP effects, remote-controllable preamps, monitor mixing, speaker switching, a headphone amp, and unprecedented Studio One integration, it gives you a portable recording solution like no other.

The Studio 192 Mobile has 18 digital inputs and outputs, allowing you to add more analog I/O when you need it. The DigiMax DP88 preamp/converter was designed to seamlessly extend the analog I/O on the Studio 192 Mobile with eight digitally-controlled XMAX preamps, ADAT I/O support up to 96 kHz, direct analog inputs, DAC outputs, and word clock I/O. Its mic preamps are fully remote-controllable from UC Surface, Studio One, and Studio One Remote when connected via ADAT Lightpipe to the Studio 192 Mobile so that they naturally extend your analog inputs both sonically and functionally.

Connect a Studio 192 Mobile and you'll instantly hear details and an open high end you expect from a professional studio front end. The Studio 192 Mobile operates at up to 192 kHz for ultra-high-definition mixing and recording. High-quality Burr-Brown converters on every input and output provide 118 dB of dynamic range to capture complex musical harmonics smoothly and naturally with no audible distortion. And the recallable XMAX microphone preamps deliver incredibly high headroom, deep lows, smooth highs, and a rich overall sound so you'll hear every breath, transient, and detail in your recordings.

I picked this interface to work with my secondary, Windows-based workstation (Lenovo IdeaPad 330 Intel 6-Core i7 8th Gen. 8750H (2.20 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4 GB, 16 GB DDR4 Memory, 16 GB Optane Memory, 1 TB SSD, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 3.1). The Studio 192 Mobile offers USB 3.0 connectivity, which in terms of latency may not be that much faster, or faster at all, than a good USB 2.0 interface, but it has qualities, which make it a great choice for small(ish) home and, yes, professional studios (take my word for it: in the past the differences in sound quality between cheap and expensive interfaces were colossal; it has changed - you do not really have to break a bank to get an interface that will make it possible to produce commercial quality recordings). The Studio 192 Mobile: 1) is well built; 2) looks elegant; 3) for what it does it has an ample number of I/O's including two excellent and quiet front panel XMAX preamps; 4) offers numerical gain indicators on the front panel digital display for each of the two front preamps - and you can control them remotely; 5) has the superb Burr Brown converters; 6) has selectable phantom power - you can apply it to either channel (great for working with capacitor and ribbon mikes simultaneously); 7) is easily expandable through ADAT and/or S/PDIF (for instance, you can expand it effortlessly with a PreSonus DP88); 8) has clear and clean tone, which assures fantastic auditory insight into complex mixes; 9) offers reasonably low latency of 32 or 64 samples (that depends on the circumstances but in general the Studio 192 Mobile performs flawlessly); 10) is easy to set up and control; 11) is seamlessly integrated with Studio One. The negatives: 1) the Main knob and headphone rotary control do not give you a lot of oomph (this interface is "quiet"); 2) after about two months of using the unit, the Main knob fell off and I had to super-glue it back - this should not be happening to the interface that costs $700; 3) for a 'mobile' unit it is a bit bulky but I can live with that; 4) it seems to me that it works much better when you bypass the Universal Control panel and the much touted Fat Channel (apparently, using them adds 'hidden latency') for which I have no use anyway, as I prefer to do everything from within my DAW. PreSonus introduced the new Studio ‘C’ line in January 2019 (it is USB 3.1, or C, compliant). These new interfaces are much inferior to the Studio 192 Mobile and its bigger sister, the Studio 192. The two Studio 192 interfaces (i.e. Studio 192 and Studio 192 Mobile) are being phased out - the Studio 192 Mobile is carried by fewer and fewer retailers. PreSonus has changed its focus to the Thunderbolt-compatible Quantum line (I tried one of them on my MacBook Pro, experienced major problems and bought the Apogee Element 46 instead, which works like a charm). My recommendation: Get this interface (or, if you feel rich, the Studio 192 with eight preamps!) while you still can. It is worth every penny. It is in a class of its own.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
