It took quite awhile but now I've decided to experiment with effects,so choosing the Canyon Looper because of the assortment of effects will help me find out which stand alone pedals I might get in the future. It has definitely helped shape those ideas and more.

Chose the Canyon Looper because of the assortment that it came with so I could experiment with particular effects helping me decide on what stand alone effects I might want in the future.

The options on this delay are only limited by your imagination. The looper function saves space on a board. The reverb is decent, better when complimented by other effects. All the delay features are great in their own right. Still playing around and having fun. My favourite option is the reverse delay. Nice little tribute to Hendrix. Knobs are really loose but that's minor Price point is fantastic. Great place to start a journey into the world of delay.

I bought this pedal about a month ago, to replace my outdated (but still functional) Boss DD-3. The Canyon packs 10 delay settings plus loop capabilities in a tidy little package. Each delay setting is unique and sounds fantastic. Some settings, like octave and shimmer, are unusual yet awesome and inspiring. Most settings have a secondary mode which allows you to modify the depth and intensity of the effects themselves. It sounds more complicated than it is and enables a ton of control. The amount of features and flexibility is staggering and I would consider this pedal a tremendous value at the price range. Additionally, one of the main selling points for me was the tap tempo functionality. I purchased a (normally open) Ernie Ball tap switch ($32) along with the Canyon and it was a game changer. I'll never go back or buy another delay without that capability. Unfortunately, I do have a couple of issues. The pedal comes with a 9.6V 200mA adapter, which is great. But I use a board powered with a Voodoo PP2+, which has two 9V outputs @ 250mA. The manual for the Canyon states "The CANYON requires 150mA at 9VDC with a center-negative plug." Should work with the PP2+ right? Nope. That extra 0.6V must make the difference because it sounds significantly worse (muddy/distorted) when powering it off my board and a couple of the settings just don't work at all. I am therefore forced to use the provided adapter separately. This isn't a problem for a basement player like me, but I used to gig all the time and requiring a separate power supply for one pedal is both inefficient and impractical on the road. Additionally, the cable of the adapter feels a bit frail and cheap, like one good twist or bend could break it. Not great quality. Second, I've noticed that the shimmer and sample & hold settings (6 o'clock and 7 o'clock on the MODE dial) don't always engage when I select them. If I switch the dial back and forth a few times I can usually get them to kick in, then they work fine. Sometimes it works first try, sometimes it takes me a minute to screw with it. Again, as a stay-at-home player, it doesn't really matter as I always eventually get it. It feels like a glitch or a hiccup and it always occurs when switching to one or two specific settings. Might not be an issue for most but when I think about playing live it isn't encouraging. If I played one song using the tape setting, for example, then had to switch to shimmer for the next song, I could see myself standing there on stage desperately trying to get it to switch. Not great quality. Overall, if it wasn't for those issues, I'd consider this pedal a masterpiece. When powered with the provided adapter it sounds crystal clear and there are a ridiculous amount of delay options and versatility. The tap tempo, while not exclusive to the Canyon, is awesome and essential. It packs a heck of a punch in a small package and is affordably priced. If you're just messing around at home you can't go wrong with this. If you've got several other pedals and use a brick or daisy chain for power, I would test this thing out first.

This pedal sounds great but the knobs are hella loose and the manual does a feeble job describing how to actually get mileage out of some of the various options. Furthermore the actual on/off switch is weirdly finicky, you can set the delay either using the delay knob or by tapping and I've had it double tap and ignore the knob setting in favor of my tapped tempo (I swear I only hit it once) when I tried to turn the pedal on in the middle of a performance.

Wow. This pedal blows me away. Beyond the excellent delay features, I wanted to point out some of its more unique uses. With the right settings, it acts as a very nice reverb pedal. Turning down the delay time and feedback in Octave mode can provide a very useful Octave up/down/both. Capture and sample allows you to play a droning note that you can solo over... ALMOST as good as the freeze, but with having to turn the knob to adjust the sensitivity, it works well for practice, but is not convenient. The looper is good, but is a shame you cant loop using the delay effects. On the downside, it is a rather noisy pedal, that can be clearly heard when it is engaged or disengaged. The double use knobs make it easy to accidentally change the wrong settings, and every once in awhile it glitches and I have to disengage the pedal to make it work right again. OVerall, amazing.. a must have.

If you're looking for a delay pedal but not sure if you want a warm analog delay or a modern digital delay, this might be the pedal for you. The regular digital delay sounds are amazing, but what really impressed me was the warmth of the modeled analog delay sounds, including a recreation of the coveted Deluxe Memory Man delay. Plus, you get some really neat "trick" delays, like a really, really excellent reverse delay, octave shifting delay, delay with a plate reverb added to it, shimmering octave effects, and a neat but difficult-to-figure-out sample-and-hold delay. And the looper, while a little touchy to time the start and end of loops, is a really neat feature. Probably not up to par with a TC Electronic Ditto as far as sound quality or user-friendliness goes, but still a wonderful feature to have. Some tricks I've learned include setting the delay time and feedback to zero on the reverb delay setting, making the pedal actually work as a pretty decent-sounding plate reverb pedal. The build quality is just as you'd expect of EHX, with its all-metal exterior and the soft sort of plastic knobs and switches. The footswitch is a bit of a "soft touch" mechanism so you don't get that satisfying "click" when you activate it, and that's probably my only build quality issue, feels like it's too easy to activate/deactivate. The only feature I'd like to see added is the ability to use other delays while playing back loops. Other than that, this delay is possibly one of the best values I've seen of any delay pedal on the market. Even though this is a digital multi-effect delay pedal, none of the delays sound bad or "fake" at all. Even the emulations of the analog and tape delays sound decently warm and lush. And the fact that on top of these really good sounding delays, you also get some really neat trick delays and a minute-long looper, makes this an incredible value. This pedal essentially takes the job of many pedals, and you could pay much more for worse tone.

The Canyon serves as the best valued delay sample pack on the market. Each setting provides a distinctly different texture to shape a more atmospheric sound. The looper function is easy to use, although the sound card gets pretty overloaded sounding after one or two overdubs. Best for someone who like to dabble in at home looping, but not needing gigable quality. My favourite setting is "Shimmer" in conjunction with other delay or reverb effects to create etherial and serene textures.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
