Sierra Music Publications Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of the Week - Cahn/Styne/Byers - Jazz Ensemble - Gr. Medium-Advanced
Additional Photos:
Composer: Sammy Cahn, Jules Styne
Arranger: Billy Byers
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Jazz Ensemble (5-4-4-4)
Style: Swing
Solos: Flute, Piano
Level: Medium-Advanced
Sierra Music offers another Billy Byers masterpiece written for and recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on their album Frankly Basie. Set as a medium swing in the inimitable style of the Basie band, this arrangement features the flute (doubled by the tenor saxophone) and trumpets on the catchy melody. This is combined with wonderful interplay from the ensemble and Basie piano solo fills (all written out). There is solo space for flute (changes) and piano (written out). The ensemble writing and brass ranges are reasonable (highest note for trumpet is a written Db) making this chart playable for most bands. This is a great addition to any band's library!
