As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, "Heidi" is the 3rd movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. A gorgeous solo feature for alto saxophone throughout, this piece builds from a quiet beginning to a very powerful point (a "Bolero" type of tension as the piece develops) before it diminishes to a quiet ending. This "edited" version is in a lower key, has a shorter solo section and simpler brass ranges, making it more playable for both the soloist and the ensemble while still maintaining the integrity of Oliver's beautiful ballad.
