When Eddie Van Halen introduced his famous red, white and black striped 5150 guitar in 1984, he never would have fathomed the thousands of copies it would inspire. But then again, Eddie has made a career of being copied in every which way imaginable. EVH Gear proudly introduces a new Striped Series 5150 model based on his original instrument, featuring his distinctively striped 5150 motif and single humbucker setup.

The Striped Series 5150 has a basswood body identical to the original, with a bolt-on quartersawn maple neck featuring a comfortable modified "C" profile, hand-rubbed back finish and "hockey stick" headstock. The fast-playing compound-radius (12"-16") maple fingerboard has 22 jumbo frets, black dot inlays and a convenient heel-mounted truss rod adjustment wheel.

The 5150 is also fitted with a custom designed EVH Wolfgang alnico 2 Humbucker bridge pickup, delivering the perfect amount of power and articulation with sweet sustain and thick chunky rhythms in a perfectly balanced EQ curve. A custom designed EVH-branded low-friction volume knob provides for unmatched performance and even-volume tapering for the smoothest volume swells.

Decked out with a rock solid "dive bomb' certified EVH-branded Floyd Rose bridge, each locking nut tailpiece features fine tuners and a patented EVH D-Tuna for switching back and forth from drop-D to standard tuning in an instant.

With its quintessential red 5150 hologram numbers and star decals, the Striped Series 5150 is a high-powered, high-performance machine that's as kickass to look at as it is to play.

This guitar is absolutely amazing. The maple fingerboard is insanely comfortable and the action is perfect to make bends super easy. The stock strings are perfect for anyone, beginner or advanced! I can't believe how good this guitar is. The sound is excellent too.

This is a very iconic guitar and it feels and plays amazing. Love the pickup sound and the neck is very comfortable when shaping chords. Only fault is that the 5150 logo is a sticker and I had some dust / air bubble under this decal. Otherwise overall quality is good. I recommend this guitar for any experience level- EVH case that I purchased as an extra cost is super slim and worth the small premium over generic hard shell case.

Wow!!! I've waited for this one for a while, and it does not disappoint. Awesome paint job and close attention to detail. Great feeling neck and aggressive sounding Wolfgang pickup. Love the "tribute" to Eddie style headstock, and the Floyd w/D-Tuna works as well as my other striped series axes.
I had the last one (for now) at a L&M Canada location sent from B.C. to Ontario in record time. Biggest thanks go out to Cheryl and Bill, from the Oshawa store, for service above and beyond... If you have the chance? Buy one!

I play high end Hamer and Jackson guitars and I bought this as a tribute to Eddie, I ordered a couple of days after he passed. I knew it would be decent but I was actually surprised how nice the action was and how awesome it sounds through any of my rigs. I’ve owned the bumble bee ART series Charvel and this one i found to be much better. It took over 9 months to get it but well worth the wait. I ordered the case too and the extra cost really didn’t matter to me.

I waited 25 yrs for this guitar can't stop smiling. Love the neck and beautiful paint job. Action good. Love the headstock even though it's not the Kramer one but it is an homage to Ed's 5150.

Pretty impressed with this guitar, regardless of the fact it was made iconic by Eddie Van Halen, it plays well, the neck is superb and it has great sustain. The price point is a little over the top, it doesn't come with a case and it also doesn't come with any legitimate paperwork from the folks at Fender/EVH

The boy's back at EVH did a great job with this guitar, the fret work is excellent, the neck is super fast and the paint job is out of this world. The low side of it is I find it a bit over price and without a case. But to all the EVH fan's out there its a must have.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
