I tried the more expensive strings Exlir and they broke like spaghetti. I can use these and get 3 or 4 sets change them more frequently and get a great tone.
I don't believe all the hype and BS about "technology" or "Special" alloys. A string is a string !

I know you have a guitar playing friend that swear by using certain brands, such as elixir, daddario, ernie ball, dr, whatsoever. But if you are just starting out, you probably can't tell between the brands, except for elixir, since they're coated. Try different gauges and once you can play chords effortlessly and wish to get different sounds, then try out different brands. FYI, These are phosphor bronze.

I've used these for years. american made (ghs?). I've been changing strings for over 50 years. every once in a while I break one while stretching. any brand. it happens. no reason to trash the product because of this. it is what it is.

Wanted to try this as I usually use Elixir or D’Addario . Started installation and Low E string broke even before I could bring under full tension . The core broke just before the before the saddle , luckily , the winding kept the string together .
Others had same experience . I can not even rate the sound since I only half installed one string . Back to elixirs and great sound as usual .

Great strings - made in USA. Try 'em. I've enjoyed them for years now in every gauge on and off stage and find them consistent in sound and quality. Yes, they are phosphor bronze with a wound third (light set)

I own a bunch of guitars, always outfitted with these strings (electric, acoustic and Bass).
I also do guitar set-ups and repairs and use these almost exclusively; I buy about 15-20 sets per month and never have any issue!!

As a pro, Ive used these acoustic L&M strings Light & Medium Light since the mid 80's, the quality and longevity has never changed
Do not get fooled by the low price, it's a L&M promo, which make you the winner on the cost
These strings beat out other much more expensive brands period

Product Experience I've tried it

Ever since I started playing the guitar I have used a variety of different brands of strings. However I feel that the longevity of the more expensive strings last just about as long the Long and Mcquade brand. And for less then $5 dollars at a local retail shop to me the value in the purchase of these strings is well worth it. They are the cheapest brand that Long and Mcquade sells, but don't let that price point deter you in anyway, since these strings are very durable, they sound amazing and I find that even with playing my guitar almost everyday for recreational use that I get about 3 years out of a pair of strings. So if your looking to purchase some new strings and are like me and don't want to spend a whole lot then give the Long and Mcquade brand a try.
