I purchased this about three weeks ago. It has been overall very fun to play and continue learning with. It is lighter and has a thinner neck than my Epiphone Les Paul, which is a very nice change for me as my biggest issue was the thick neck. It does have some issues though, such as buzzing at the first fret, and sharp frets ends, which I smoothed out with an emory board. I also needed to adjust the truss rod, which has helped the buzz somewhat, but it was something I didnt need to worry about on the Epiphone Les Paul, also purchased at Long and McQuade, which was basically perfectly set up straight out of the case. If you are able to transport the guitar to a Long and McQuade easily, make use of the free set up and all should be fine.

I own and throughout time have been lucky to own many guitars. I've expected this to be something akin the Jem Jr from Ibanez but I've found it to be completely different. The guitar is BEAUTIFUL to behold, but I find it's insanely heavy (just like my Squier Telecaster Classic Vibe 50s), and it doesn't sound like a typical Ibanez. In fact I don't know what it even sounds like, it's very generic. Maybe a new set of pickups would give this guitar some personality. The neck doesn't feel thin like the Jem Jr Wizard III did (supposedly they're both Wizard III..?) but the neck being so flat I still play 10% faster than on my other guitars, and bending is very easy. The "Floyd Rose" (Edge 2 zero) is pretty stable but with the zero system with those secondary springs that bring back the tremolo in the zero position I find it's really hard to bend notes down (push in on the tremolo arm) and flickering is impossible but you can always remove this system and have a regular tremolo. The neck edges aren't rolled and feel a bit very plain, as the neck has no finish on it whatsoever, it looks like it's just been cut. The frets are unpolished and I feel a lot of resistance when bending. The edges aren't that smooth either, but passable, though at this price range I'd expect better. Even Chinese guitars these days offer more I think. Unfortunately for me due to COVID lockdowns I bought it before testing, so I suggest you test this before to see if you like it. I still think the guitar is not bad if it motivates you to play, however I've had higher expectations from Ibanez on this. Test it and judge for yourself.

This is the first guitar I ever bought with my own savings. I have a fender strat replica from encore which is cheap but good enough and have also played a jackson dinky before. This guitar however is on another league. I love the fact that it is so well built. Quality is top notch - the most important thing of any instrument . Looks amazing in person.. photos and videos dont do justice.. mine is a bit darker shade of green and slight blue around the corner but mostly dark green. The clear coat finish on the body is very glossy and makes the instrument look premium. The stock quantum pickups are too good. Originally i have heard these pickups were used in older Japanese made ibanez guitars.. not sure though. But you can expect to do gigs with this instrument.. It is a bit heavy however nothing too crazy.. very ergonomic construction and price to performance ratio is too good. The neck is thin enough for fast players and has a smooth finish. The maple fretboard has wood pattern all over which looks so premium and the neck is indeed sturdy.. as maple is one of the hardest wood..Reachability on the 24th fret is easy. The edge zero 2 is much better than what i expected.. it is super smooth and stable.. strings dont loose tuming no matter how many dive bombs you try.. The tuners are also of very good quality.. made of metal that is...packaging and delivery were both decent.. nothing to complain about.. got mine in 3 days.. I am super happy with the looks.. build and the sound overall.. Ibanez is surely the safest bet u can make... if you are hesitant to buy it.. dont be.. it is of the very best quality.. with great detail to every aspect of the instrument..

I was gifted this guitar by my wife on our anniversary and it is my go to electric guitar since. I have it through a Fender Mustang GT 200 and enjoy the rich and vibrant tones it gives from clean to distorted. The build is excellent, a little heavy but manageable. The neck feels great for chords and solos however, it needed the fret edges dressed which I feel shouldn't have been missed by the factory. The trem system takes a bit to get used to when tuning but once tuned, it stays tuned. Just like others reviewing this, the guitar looks fantastic and is great to play. It plays better than my Fender Stratocaster tbh with better features that are more modern. So in my opinion, it's fantastic value and much cheaper than the Japanese Ibanez guitars and Jem 7's. Try one, I think you'll be impressed. [editor note: Having sharp frets is a common 'Canadian' problem as our climate is much drier. The wood actually shrinks, but the frets don't. Any of our guitar techs will be happy to address this.]

Amazing guitar, feels better than some custom made guitars, but at a really affordable price. The stock pickups sound great, very versatile, and very clean. The neck is very thin and very wide, and very fast. Looks beautiful too.

This is a qaulity instrument with beautiful cleans and dramatic under effects. The edge tremolo system is spot on; this guitar stays in tune. My only complaint is the weight of this guitar. However, It is well balaced with no tendency to neck dive. The craftsmenship on this Idonesia produced guitar is premium. My low mark on value has more to do with the price tag than the guitar qaulity.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
