Since 1964 the Mustang model has been bringing Fender sound and style to the stage and the studio in the hands of trend-setting players ranging from Nirvana to The 1975. Upgraded with performance-oriented features, this new Mustang sports classic style with modern electronics in an ultra-comfortable short-scale form that's easy to play all night long.

Tonally flexible, the pair of angled single-coil pickups make every note and chord pop with authentic Fender tone. These low-output pickups have a balanced voice with bell-like upper harmonics, punchy mids and thick lows for a sound that easily cuts through a mix. Master volume and tone controls, along with a three-way pickup switch craft your sound. Topped by a 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, the "C"-shaped maple neck is comfortable for all playing styles and ideal for players with smaller hands, or those who use extended chord forms. The six-saddle string-through-body hardtail Strat® bridge increases sustain while the bent steel saddles add a touch of "cut" to your tone, and are adjustable for spot-on intonation. The 24" scale adds a bit of warmth and thickness to the guitar's inherent tone, while granting a slinkier playing feel, making it easier to perform multi-step bends.

The guitar's smaller body is perfect for energetic stage performances and ideal for those with smaller frames while retaining Fender's famous ergonomic design aesthetic. A gloss polyester finish protects the body while the neck bears a satin polyurethane finish for fast, easy playability. The aesthetic appointments add a touch of classic Fender style to this modernized design for dazzling style under the spotlights. A cult favorite, the Mustang has evolved from a student-oriented model to the underground champion that laid the foundation for grunge and modern alternative rock.

I swapped my Squire Jazz master ( too many buttons ) for this at the N Van store, thanks guys,, they even switched my #10 flat wounds onto it for me. I added 2 Fender roller trees for smooth and extra tension. I play finger style and I am a senior with some finger and arm mobility issues so this little beauty fits nicely. I don't gig and play more for my own entertainment. Very happy with this Mustang.

Traded up my Squire Jazz master that I only had for a few days ( to many knobs and switches ) at N Van store, guys were very helpful and even switched my #10 flat wounds onto the Mustang for me. I like the short scale, I'm a Senior with some finger and arm mobility issues and this works fine for me. Love the pickups, i play finger style and no heavy metal or rock.

Purchased this guitar 6 Month's ago, found the Guitar a nice clean instrument, clean sound, smaller Neck with closer frets great for rifts if you have smaller fingers, easy to play not hard on the wrist when cording. Good for any show not buzzing like a Tele, sounds just as good with a Fender Mustang III Amp

I needed a decent guitar that sounded like a Jazzmaster that wasn't a squier. This fits the bill perfectly. I got the white one, and it looks amazing, and sounds amazing! Simple feature, but what do you expect? lol

I bought one of these when they first came out. I planned to use it as a workhorse-type guitar for gigs. The neck feels really nice and the finish options are really cool. However, the build quality is not good. Right away, mine needed a second string tree to hold the d-string and two weeks into using it, the pickup selector stopped working. I also keep breaking the low E A and D strings at the bridge, so i suspect there is something wrong with the way the bridge is made. I don't normally break strings and I have tried NYXL's, Elixir nanowebs etc (12 gauge even), and they still break on this guitar. The pickups really aren't great to my ear. They sound sort of like coil-split humbuckers. Like, kinda midrange and dead. Usable, but not really that good. I'll be honest, I mostly bought this because I think Mustangs are cool and I've always wanted one, but if you are thinking of getting this guitar, try something else in this price range. I've stopped using mine for gigs because I just don't trust it. I've had squiers that have given me less trouble. Seems like Fender's MIM quality control has gone way down.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
