Question: What PSA series AC adapter does this require? I have a PSA-120 but it’s 9v and this appears to be 6v?
- asked on Feb 3, 2024
Answer: A PSA-120 will work fine. The voltage used from batteries can be different than the adapter.

I've been a Boss GT-100 user ever since it came out back in 2012. I was looking for a more compact unit to bring to band practice or jam at friends' place. This fits the bill perfectly. Battery ops is a huge plus. Metal top, plastic bottom. Well built. Everything seems solid, except I find the stomp switches a bit loose in their cradle. I've no doubt it'll last as per all my other Boss products. One thing I find quite annoying is the lack of a proper ON/OFF switch. The GT-1 is turned ON/OFF by plugging a guitar cable IN/OUT of the INPUT jack. I'm a big fan of the Tone Studio with both GT-100 and now GT-1. Most patches are available via the same libraries for both. However, user custom patches are NOT transferable between units, due the simplified parameters on the GT-1. There is a freeware available via the Boss forum to translate patches between GT products, but it's a hit and miss. I don't bother creating/editing patches via the on-board display, it's way too small for that. Have your laptop handy for that. Overall very happy with the GT-1 and it sounds great. I would use this for a bar gig or mid-sized venue/corporate event no problem. Highly recommended.

It's very hard to find a simple multi effect that runs on batteries, but this does the trick. Combined with a battery amp or PA and you're good to travel. Re-chargeable batteries (not included) get me about 12-16 hours of play time. It's a little weird to program, but once you have it figured, it's fast and easy. Also, all the knobs are digital, so if you have this in your travel bag or case and the knobs get turned, it doesn't change your preset sounds. Most electric buskers would want a minimum of reverb, drive and a tuner.. those three would cost this much, not match the versatility, take up the same space in a case, and take more batteries to run. It's good enough to use as a stage rig if you wanted, although if you have the money, tube amp and stomps are still better overall.

Had this unit for a few weeks now and have a little experience with using this thing in different ways. Works well with GarageBand as a recording device, only needed a $10 USB cable from a store nearby Works great as a standalone headphone amp, the amp and cab sims are nice and I really only just recently understood their ideal use. I am excited to get my hands on am FRFR and really hear the full potential of the signal from this pedal. Plays Really well with other pedals, and I'm currently using it as the end of a pedal board until I can get my drive stages set up outside of the GT-1. I have heard good things about its use in an effects loop, just haven't gotten there yet. All in all, in 15 years of playing guitar, this pedal really opened up my playing and gave me all the possibilities I can ask for.

Because venues are in short supply, I’ve started converting to all battery setup so I can play at festivals and other busking locations. This pedal allows me to patch and save pretty decent Pink Floyd sounds, and I get about 10 hours from a charge on 4 AA battery’s. I like this pedal enough that I sold my Helix Floor... this in no way compares with the Helix...but there is just too much in the helix for me... I spend more time tweaking than playing and that’s just not right... another bonus of this pedal is if the dials and buttons get adjusted in transport it doesn’t matter as the presets take it back....something that can be an issue with analogue gear for busking... I pump this pedal into a Bose S1 Pro and the sound is excellent

Purchased earlier this year and recently added Boss Tone Studio which really expanded the variety of tones available to the user. The Boss Tone Studio software is free and available by visiting the Boss website. Additionally the user can add other tones developed by professional musicians.

I have been shying away from going with a processor rather then individual pedals but I'm sure glad I did. I have had it for a few days, its easy to use and the tones are great.

Ive been playing for years but never talented enough to justify thousands on building a pedal board. I enjoy experiementing with guitar sounds and I thought I would give this multi FX a try after a bit of research. For the money the quality and quantity of sounds are amazing. The amount of customization is mind boggling. It sounds better through my Fender solid state amp than my AC15 tube. My only complaints are that the looper isnt the easiest to use, and I wish there was a simple stomp box mode function.

I've had a bunch of guitar multi-effects over the years - lots of them in fact. The GT-1 is right up there with any I've owned. For the money, I doubt you'll find a better variety of usable effects in one unit. One thing I have noticed is that the sound is less transparent than my current main rig. This could be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. In my current setup, when I switch guitars, the difference in sound is hugely noticeable, to the point that I need to make different patches for different guitars. That said, I do love hearing the character of my guitars when I play. The GT-1, on the other hand, tends to make my guitars sound similar to one another. So, I hear less of my guitars' character but I don't need to modify the patches to go from one guitar to the next. And the sounds I've gotten from the GT-1 are excellent.

This little unit is fantastic. They have the Slow Gear pedal and the Terra Echo among all the others. Delay ,reverb, chorus, tremolo, distortions. Even an organ sound. I made a nice ambient patch and put it on youtube.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
