Application
Ultra high output humbucker built for aggressive playing styles. Recommended for punk, garage, thrash, metal and other heavy rock styles.

Description
Designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The combination of three ceramic magnets, over-wound coils and twelve black oxide cap screws make the Invader an electrifying force of energy. The wide magnetic field pumps power into your amp with a totally heavy sound. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable.

Complete Setup
Available for both neck and bridge positions - most commonly used in the bridge position. The Invader neck pickup has considerably reduced output for tonal versatility.

Guitars
For all instruments. The wide pole pieces work for both humbucker and Trembucker string spacing.

Players
Troy VanLeeuwen / Queens of the Stone Age (bridge), Mike Chlasciak / Halford (bridge), Whitey Kirst / Iggy Pop (bridge), Rick Jackett / finger eleven (bridge), Will Adler & Mark Morton / Lamb of God (bridge)

The Invader has been around for over 40 years for good reason. I don't know why people say it's dark or muddy. The key thing is to make sure to not have the pickup poles too close to the strings. Keep this one at least 5 mm back and you'll be fine. It is very powerful and cannot be run tight to the strings. The Invader comes stock on the USA Custom Shop Jackson WR1 Warrior. It is beast of a pickup. The clean tones are a bit lacking for sure, but it pairs very well with a SD Jazz neck! It's bright, articulate, clear and LOUD. If you want OSDM Deicide Hoffman brothers tone to Gary Holt Exodus thrash, you'll love the invader. I've had 3 over the years, for what it does it's the best.

I found there is a lot variability in the sound you get from them by how you adjust the height. Having them too high or too low can create very different sounds. When too high they can almost cause break up on my clean channel of my amp. But spending a bit of tinkering to find the sweet spot for your guitar. Also the kind of strings you use makes a difference. I find I prefer the Ernie Ball cobalt strings, as they are a bit higher output and brighter sounding string. I have this in two guitars now. It is very similar to the stock pickup in a Schecter C1 Apocalypse guitar. But I found that to be a little too muddy for my use, So this has slightly better response for chords (in both clean and overdriven applications)

Not sure how people get any useable tone out of these. I had these pickups in my guitar and the tone was so dark. I was checking to make sure I didn't have my tone knob rolled off it was that dark. Dialing in extra treble in the amp didn't help either. I guess for doom metal these might be good, but personally I couldn't replace them fast enough. Build quality is great though, despite what other reviewers have said.

Threw these in my dean and made it go from a blues machine to a hard hitting versatile unit. I threw a 59 in the neck to off set the harsh tones so I can do creepy melodies. Worked out great

I got mine in zebra, and I have never been more satisfied with a pickup in my life. Extremely easy to install in any guitar, and can be coil split, phase switched, you name it! Overall, I'd say it's the best bang for your buck if you're looking for high output, and very stylish.

I loaded these into an Epi Les Paul Custom that wasnt seeing much use (as I had upgraded to a Gibson). It re-purposed this git in spades and turn it into a Lester on 'roids! All the nice snarl and quack you would want for aggresive playing styles and the tone fattens up real nice in the Mahogany body of the Lester. I also wired these in parallel with push/pulls. (they come 4-conn). These sound really good in parallel too! IMO i would choose the neck/br set of these over Dimebuckers, or DP-100 (which mudded out for me in the neck).

very good pickups i have the invader in the neck and bridge and they are both great. very high output for a passive pickup, lots of bass. the amp i'm playing through does not do these pickups justice, ive played them through other amps and they are great. i would definately recommend these for someone looking for high output pickups that play any sort of metal and punk
