These are really good. After some extensive testing. I bought it. Small size with a big sound. great for limited desk spaces and using it as portable monitors on the go. I would recommend this if you are looking for a pair of small size speakers that will deliver a sound that is comparable to a pair of 5 inch monitors. Bluetooth is a plus and work great. There are cheaper options, but in this case. you pay for what you get.

Stay away from this particular product as the design itself is flawed. The noise floor on these speakers are really high and not on account of it using unbalanced connections. Even tested without signal cables connected, at 50% volume the white noise is terribly loud. It is a pain to endure for long periods of usage. A Google search and Reddit threads would confirm that this problem is prevalent and there is little to nothing the manufacturer has done to fix this. I'm quite surprised they still make them. I just purchased them a few days ago will surely initiate a return.

Was looking for something more compact for my office space that I also use to compose and record song ideas. Every compact speaker I tried sounded boxy and had no low-end, until I tried those! Despite the small footprint, they don't sound small at all. The bass goes low, the highs are defined, without any fakeness to the sound (like similar options from Bose). Yes, Bluetooth works at the same time as the analog inputs, I love that. I leave my laptop connected via Bluetooth for less wires, then have my audio interface connected via RCA. This way I don't have to switch source to go between computer audio and my interface, makes referencing mixes so much easier. I haven't experienced the Bluetooth connection buzz sound that some people are referencing. I just wish it had balanced connections, but normally these would be used with very short cables. They are more like very good sounding computer speakers than proper studio monitors.

I have had these for about a year. They sound decent for what they are and can be used for mixing and monitoring in a pinch. The problem lies with its bluetooth functionality. The bluetooth cannot be turned off. Even worse, the bluetooth connection overrides the TRS and RCA connections. This means if someone who has previously paired with it walks by, their phone will automatically connect and interrupt whatever you are working on. The idea is great but until the bluetooth issue is fixed in later versions do not expect these to perform comfortably and reliably as your studio monitors. They also beep while pairing to devices so if you happen to be recording your take will be ruined.

Please refer to more professional review regarding the sound and performance about the speakers. When the speaker starts up first 25 seconds it will try to search for Bluetooth devices with a high pitch buzz sound which is unable to turn off. Afterward it keeps producing a very low pitch hizz noise which I can already ear all day long. Contacted IK's support first they suggested to purchase a conditioner which easily cost another 200 bucks. Then I sent them a sound clip and youtube video about my setup and the sound they replied it's normal and nothing they can do with it. Guess I am stuck with is speaker for a while now.

Bought these as micro studio monitors to listen to Volca series synths. They are definitely LOUD, with loads of base, but so much so that the (internal) base port baffles would vibrate badly on deep bass drum hits. They were fine for other synth parts, but couldn't handle their own bass response (!?) They weren't distorting/clipping, they were "honking" like a reed instrument. Okay at lower bass inputs, not so good at higher ones. Ended up returning them and getting Kanto YU 4's which are truly awesome.

These monitors have changed how I listen to music. They are amazing. I have DJ'ed two '80s dance parties (in yards) and hosted an Octoberfest (in a big house) using these and a MacBook Pro. MY only issue is that the bluetooth does not work....did for a while....but I will use a little cable.....they are the best speakers. LOVE THEM !!!

Amazingly small footprint that works next to any DAW and is portable for working on Projects while traveling. Sound is very good for what they are and while being very affordable and work for microphone placement and are easy on the ears in long sessions when tracking.

Remarkably capable miniature monitor allows close listening thanks to steep slope crossover and close driver spacing. Sound is surprisingly full for a tiny box and the tone controls on the rear are well designed to offer useful correction for placement issues. The big surprise for me was the quality of the midrange. It is surprisingly accurate and smooth?better than many more expensive speakers to my ears. Loudness capability is somewhat limited'they cannot play as loud as a good 4" monitor, although loud for a 3" driver. The benefit, though, is the very small size making them perfect to take on location for monitoring and playback of takes. The way the sound comes together at very close distances, like .5 metres, enables close positioning which eliminates much of the room sound?which is also handy for location playback. I would call the sound these produce, within loudness limits, professional monitor quality enabling mic placement and mix decisions to be made with confidence, and that was unexpected! Very happy indeed with the purchase. Next step?acquiring the custom gig bag!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
