I have had this for 5 years and it still is perfect. I even used it on a session in Nashville for a doubled acoustic and it sounded great . It rounded out my hummingbird perfectly , better than the producers old gibson beauty which sounded too much like the hummingbird. It is great for smaller hands and it doesn't get in the way. It travels in the cabin and other then the odd gate check , you can carry it in the plane no problem. I love it. If i lost it , I would buy another one!

My wife got me a mini martin as a birthday present, I love this guitar. Thie size is awesome and the quality and sound is impressive. I tend to play it often and I take it everywhere. It's missing some of the bass tones of a larger guitar but has a very clean overall sound. If you're looking for a small guitar for travel or just a good compact instrument the Mini Martin is a great choice.

I got Little Martin for my 60th birthday and could not be more happy. Quality and playability are awesome, compact size is great for travel and chilling on the patio. I put a set of Martin Silk & Steel strings on it and it sounds bigger than it's size! Highly recommended to add to any guitar collection!

While this is certainly a good little travel guitar, I don't think its unplugged sound is as good as some reviewers state. To me it is just o.k. I also think this guitar is over priced. By the time you pay the tax it's $500.00. That's a lot of money for this little guy. The Takamine Gmini is a travel guitar that is built and sounds more like an authentic guitar for $100.00 less.

My indecision about the LX1E was due to silly comparisons with my Martin D35. How could Martin's smallest guitar sound as rich as a full-sized instrument that I've played for 38 years? Of course it doesn't, but as a stand-alone acoustic the LX1E is bright, enjoyably loud, and plays much like the D35, making them interchangeable for practising. When plugged into a studio monitor, the LX1E sounds surprisingly like the D35. And the built-in Fishman pickup allows for direct input as an electric guitar to my Zoom H4n and Logic Pro. But it was the baby that sold me. When I sat on the floor and started playing, she flashed her toothless smile, reached out her tiny hand, and strummed a G chord. A magical, musical hour with our six-month-old granddaughter solely because this highly-portable little Martin LX1E was with me. The D35 doesn't like camping, travelling, or babies who yank the strings. The LX1E fits in the gig bag and goes wherever I go. In fact, right now I'm strapping it onto my back, like a teenager, and hiking down to Long & McQuade to buy more stuff.

I was intrigued by this guitar as I have other Martins (DM, 000-16GT) that I love and wanted a travel guitar to bang around with me everywhere I go. I was expecting a decent little instrument but was pleasantly surprised with what I got. The sound is richer than I would expect from a parlour-sized guitar and quite well balanced. Right out of the box, the action was almost perfect. (Normally, I find the factory action on Martins to be quite high and in need of a good setup before it's to my liking.) Plugged in, it has a very big sound that can hang with much more expensive guitars. With the shorter scale length, it makes this guitar a blast to play even for an experienced player, and would make a fantastic student/beginner guitar. There are a few cons (which are easily offset by the price): The tuners aren't the greatest. They are fairly stiff and seem to have a lower gear ratio - meaning that they feel imprecise. If you are heavy-handed with your playing, you will knock this guitar slightly out of tune relatively quickly and the the built-in tuner leaves a bit to be desired. That said, Martin packs tremendous value into this package, with the padded gig bag included. If you are considering this guitar, go for it. You won't regret it.

Ok, so this is a good guitar for beginners, but also I would recommend it to anyone. Seriously, it plays like a guitar that costs 10 times more. I bought mine mainly for travel but I play it more than my Gibson and Taylor's even when I'm home. Definitely one of my top 2 guitars which is good because the rest are like 900-2000

Even though it took almost 2 months for this guitar to finally get into my hands, it was definitely worth the wait. It sounds fantastic for such a small body guitar, the Solid Sitka Spruce top helps in the sound quite a bit. The neck is really playable and the action was really low, comparable to an electric guitar. The built-in pickup sounds amazing and the built-in tuner is very useful. The gig-bag that came with the guitar is very well padded and great for traveling. Some cons I found are the neck being really neck heavy, I've noticed while wearing a strap the guitar would always tilt forward and to the left if you were not holding it. Another con is the strings not staying in tune with really big bends. Overall I would definitely recommend this over the Baby Taylor or the Taylor GS-Mini. great service from L&M. the little Martin is a great little guitar to grab and take with you or pick up and play with it around the house when you don't want your big parlour guitar in your hands. It has big guitar features and sounds quite good. Action is low, stays in tune and the intonation was spot on. The fretboard is nice. Will have a tendency to go sharp or flat on string bends. Overall a excellent guitar for young hands or old really playable

First off L&M are selling it for $375 when everywhere else such as tomleemusic.ca is selling it for $357.40 or $360, try to price match. The guitar is awesome, I've tried out the baby Taylor's and gs mini and I liked the Martin better overall. The price isn't bad, I bought his guitar without even trying it out and as soon as I received it I loved it! Built in tuner and gig bag is just a huge bonus also. For travel guitars this is best in my opinion.

If your looking for a high quality compact travel guitar with big sound the little martin Lx1e is it. The solid sitka spruce top really gives this little guitar a huge sound. I havn't put it down since I bought it, such a cool guitar to play. Compared to the Lx1 I think its worth the extra 60 dollars for the pick up and built in tuner. I highly recommend this guitar for anyone interested in buying a travel guitar. I was also very impressed with the quickness of the shipping. I live in Newfoundland and orded this guitar online Monday morning and was playing it by Friday afternoon.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
