For someone who is regularly flying with this case I can offer some tips. Most Explorers don’t fit the case exactly so use pieces of foam to position the guitar properly so the neck fits flat and flush in the pocket. Once the airlines start tossing it around the the aluminum edge seals will quickly be bent but most times you can still close the case. Im on my third one of these cases in three years because the airlines shear the handles off at the mounts and they can’t be repaired. The tops flex enough on impact that the bridge can be driven down into the guitar if the guitar is thrown upside down. If you want the guitar to arrive undamaged then take the tunomatic bridge off and store it in the neck pocket.

I really like this case. It keeps my guitar safe and snug and I haven't noticed any signs of poor craftsmanship or bad QC. It does not fit every explorer style, or firebird, as noted. I have a Dean ZX (probably closer in dimensions to the forewarned Dean Zero AoD Dave Mustaine signature guitar) that, due to the bolt-on construction, does not fit in this case. I have an Epiphone 1984 Explorer that I keep in this case and have had no issues with. The storage area, though small, is deep and fits some tools, straps, picks, a cable, etc. I can definitely store more than I expected with the smaller size of this case, all things considered. This case does not stand very well, as it has a latch on what you might call the "bottom". It is designed to be laid flat, or on it's hinge-side like most other guitar cases. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
