The acclaimed Seaboard RISE is now available as a 49-keywave controller with a four-octave playing surface. The RISE 49 is an ideal controller for either stage or studio, combining the playability of a performance instrument with the portability and versatility of a MIDI controller.
Equator, ROLI's software synthesizer and sound engine, is bundled with every RISE 49, giving you granular control of sound in multiple dimensions. The RISE 49 is also compatible with a wide range of software across OS X and Windows platforms. Equator for RISE includes over 100 presets crafted by ROLI's sound design team. Spanning acoustic, electronic, and hybrid sounds, they are all designed for multidimensional polyphonic expression. Also included with every RISE, ROLI Dashboard is a convenient application that helps you modify and customize the settings that are most important to your music. Assign MIDI CCs to the three Touch Faders or the XY Touchpad, edit the Five Dimensions of Touch, and tweak other settings from one accessible Dashboard.
The custom-made soft case, included with every RISE 49, helps you carry it between home, studio, cafe, and gig, while NOISE takes the mobility of the RISE 49 to a whole new level.
New Features:
A new interface
Pliable, pressure-sensitive keywaves take the place of keys on a traditional keyboard. The sensor-embedded keywave surface lets you shape sound through touch. Three faders let you fine-tune the responsiveness of the surface to touch.
5D Touch
You can control sound and make music through Five Dimensions of Touch: striking the keywaves, pressing into them, gliding sideways along them, sliding up and down the keywaves, and lifting off.
Wireless and portable
Using MIDI over Bluetooth, the RISE 49 works wirelessly, helping you take your controller wherever you wish to make music. That is now even easier with NOISE, the iPhone app that works as a mobile sound engine for the Seaboard RISE.
Now with 49 keywaves
The playing surface of the RISE 49 is twice the size of the RISE 25. The four octaves of the playing surface can be extended through the octave shift button.
Record and arrange, improvise and perform
Offering new capabilities for recording, layering, and editing, the Seaboard RISE comes bundled with Bitwig 8-Track, the digital audio workstation.

Product Experience I own it

I've wanted one of these for YEARS, and was finally able to pick one up recently. It's as expressive as all the promotional videos led me to believe, and certainly has a learning curve, even as a classically trained pianist of over 20 years. The thing is built like a tank and weighs a surprising amount for how thin it is.
With the three sliders and an XY pad and the 5 dimensions of touch, you get effectively 10 macro controls that can control basically whatever you want, so if you're a synth control freak this is going to be right up your alley. The "holy grail" of true polyphonic aftertouch is whispered about in synth forums with hulking beasts like the CS-80 costing a fortune and being super rare, but it really is here today with the RISE! The software it ships with is superb, with a huge variety of fantastic default patches. With a bit of tweaking the presets, I could really get all the sounds I could ever dream of and then some. Do wish it came with some more acoustic instruments, very lacking on brass and woodwind sounds.
My product was shipped with a slight flaw (Keys in the mid range of the board when playing vibrato cause a note slightly higher up to trigger on and off, especially noticeable on monophonic sounds). It has a year warranty for defects like these, so I took it back and got a new one shipped back, but had a similar issue. Luckily, the folks here at L&M were super helpful and we found that the floor model in the shop was free of defects, so we just swapped out my new faulty one for the floor one which is basically brand new with no hassle. So, if you buy one of these guys, be sure to test out the mid range of the board with lots of semi-hard vibrato on one of the default monophonic sounds to make sure your board isn't faulty. I'm really happy with mine now that it's free of defects, and would recommend the board in a heartbeat to anyone.
