I've owned this desk for a decade, and it's a mixed bag. It has some nice features but is ultimately flawed, especially from an ergonomic standpoint. First, the Rackspace! It's awesome to have rack gear right at your fingertips. But, the actual usable space is misleading. While it may look like 8U, it's more like 4 to 6U, because you can't fit most gear in the top slot, and the bottom ones become inaccessible with any slight clutter or gear on your desk. As for the large desk surface, it's spacious due to a separate monitor shelf and a keyboard tray. But ah, the keyboard tray; it's a throwback that's more trouble than it's worth. Adjusting your chair and fishing for your mouse or keyboard becomes an awkward dance you'll repeat endlessly. ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, BUDDY. Speaking of monitors, you'll be quite far from the screen when you type. I've had a ton of monitors from 20" up to 34" now, and none solve the distance problem. Your eyes have to work a little harder, and this could be detrimental to your posture, as ergonomic guidelines recommend that the top of your monitor be at eye level. With this desk, you'll likely be looking up. I can give you the name of a good masseuse for your upcoming neck and back problems. Stability is another issue. I added the optional wings for my Yorkville YSM1P speakers, but this makes the desk wobble considerably. I've even disassembled and reassembled it to no avail. The wobble is unnerving and makes you question the desk's stability. The under-desk space is decent, but flawed. It can accommodate a tower PC outside the foot area still allowing for decent airflow, but a poorly placed support bar makes getting under your desk, and to the back of your rack gear, nearly impossible. I purchased this from the Bloor store in 2012 to help me be more productive, but all this desk has given me is back pain, headaches, and a strong desire to avoid all Yorkville furniture in the future.

The pictures don't do it justice; this thing looks deadly in a room. I found the instructions easy to follow and it took very little time to assemble. Before I purchased it I read the other reviews about the lateral movement and I was a little worried. Once I realised what they were talking about, I laughed. There is some movement if you grab it and try to move it. However, it's a desk and not a dance floor. If you use it as a desk, it's bloody solid. I used to have three 24" computer monitors on the riser. If you're using more than two 24" monitors (or the equivalent of), you won't be able to use the optional monitor speaker wings. The riser perfectly accommodates my 55" 4K TV and I could use the wings now if I wished. At first, the riser felt a little high. Once I got the proper amount of tilt on the monitors/TV it feels like it's exactly where it should be. The rack is a normal spaced rack. Up to 4U fits perfectly per side. It accepts standard sized cage nuts like you can buy for any rack, if happen to lose any or if you already have some that you really like. The main surface has loads of room. It's a permanent home for my Mackie Control and a Mackie Control Extender, my 37 key MIDI controller, a trackball, a few desktop pres, an Apollo Twin, and a Boss Katana Mini. With all that, it still doesn't feel cluttered.

The instructions are hilariously bad. You might as well just go off the thumbnail on this listing. It seems like Yorkville bought these in mass off Apex and then did some quick modifications to make it semi acceptable. For example; 1. Instead of using a better metal for the frame(talking sturdiness) they doubled up washes at the bolt holes and spot welded them. 2. The anodization of the frame is spotty and looks like it hash brush strokes some how..(should be nest to impossible to have that affect if they are properly spraying it. 3. The supply screws can we over screwed by your hand and the heads break off. In fact I was able to bend the heads off with my bare hands.... 4. The rack mount barely I mean barely fits 4units. Some of the rack ears had to slightly overlap. 5. The top self only has three mounting points with those tiny poopy screws they supplied. Also the wood screws are very very close to just going through the holes in the frame. I had to go to home depot to buy proper screws. I just could not justify the risk of putting my equipment on this. 6. No matter how tight or even this is built as mentioned in other reviews it has lateral movement. Which is a really really bad thing for a metal hallow frame. 7.Laminate is uneven and the seem were the laminate edge is joined together is super obvious. I really thought I liked the brand Yorkville and have ample audio equipment from them, but the build quality is so bad on this I'm now questioning whether not the the amplifiers and speakers I own from them are also hot garbage. I would strongly recommend going to a local CNC/welding shop and getting them to design one that is similar. It would not be that much more expensive. If it is at all. I wrote this review well after building it. If I had of wrote it during the construction of it this probably would have been 8 pages of angry. I tried to give this all 0 but the site would not let me.

SUPER STURDY desk with lots of space! I only wish the instructions we're a little clearer and that they came a little faster. I think I waited about 6 months for mine but Jeff at the Pembina store was very thorough in tracking and updating me on what's going on with the order! AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I bought this desk a year ago. I needed a desk for multiple monitors, personal computer and my work laptop. The 4U racks I want to setup with a NAS system and drawer but haven't yet. I liked the desk space and riser shelf. The material is laminated, assembly requires some measuring and screwing without a guide hole. (so harder than Ikea builds). Note it's a big set of boxes, you'll want a van to get it home. I was able to build it by myself. Use painters tape for the hole placement and guide hole screwing. the desk is pretty stable but it does have some lateral movement that I am not happy about. I did try tightening but it's doesn't really fix it. A cross beam at the feet maybe would help. I "fixed it" with a filing cabinet used as drawers one side. Overall I am really happy with it. The desk space is plentiful, wide enough to have 3 large monitors, The keyboard tray works as a computer keyboard tray with room for the mouse. The usable desk space is awesome too.

The desk is exactly what a home studio needs. The rack is good, putting in the nuts is a bit of a pain (hint, stick them in from the back) and the instructions are bunk, but for the most part really good set up. Couple things for folks to note. There are no pre-drilled holes in the tops and this intentional. It gives you the ability to fit it exactly where your need too in your space. I drilled one set, too deep, drilled another, perfect. There is plenty of space for all your gear. The top shelf is extremely deep and can hold a ton of stuff. The rack is really good but make sure you don't lose a nut or you might be in trouble. Mine came short one...so there is on space not useable. But the thing is fantastic. Especially for the money.

Judging by the pictures, this desk looks great. By the time I put this together, with the help of my wife, we both agreed - this is the cheapest, flimsiest desk we have ever owned. It's definitely pretty, and once its together everything seems to hold, but the individual parts are very weak - I could bend the metal with my bare hands, with not much effort I might add. Hole doesn't line up? No problem, let me bend it with my fingers! On the plus side it makes you feel strong! If there is another alternative you were looking at, go with that, I would avoid this desk. I'm going to keep mine since I don't want to bother dismantling it to send it back. I would be surprised if this desk past a year.

All I can say is "wow"! Looks great and is very practical as well. The rack spaces are super handy and everything else is spaced/arranged very comfortably. If you're contemplating it, the speaker wings make the desk even better. Expandability is a plus! The only real downside is that you have to drill your own holes in the wood during assembly. I was intimidated at first, but it really wasn't all that hard.

this is a great studio desk for the price , very solid and sturdy. Instructions are not that great but went together well , no pre-drilled holes so mesure first before screwing top down , took about 1hr 30 min by myself to put together, warning it is a heavy desk. Thank you to Long & McQuad for the fast delivery. Very pleased with it.
