It works well with heavy bottomed instruments. Banjos. I used it with a strat and was pretty good. I like that the stage balance is in the bottom of the unit.

This stand is a poor design for plugged in acoustic guitars. It's not high enough, and the jack hits the floor, which puts pressure on the jack, and even causes shorting in the amp if on. If you play acoustic electrics, buy the up-right model.
