Wow first pair of open back headphones and there perfect! There on the pricey side but I need something that's comfortable because I wear glasses and I find headphones usually don't fit right on my head but these are great!I also have a big head and these still fit. With the different adjustable headband makes putting on the headphones easy for anybody cause it doesn't use the usual locking system found in headphones. Overall sound quality is insane! It's a different feel but you get used to the open back style quickly. The cord is LONG ENOUGH because that's a problem sometimes... One for thing your gonna want a decent audio interface (it's a dac but cheaper) to drive these head phones I have the scarlet 2i2 and it works fine for me.

I purchased these headphones after a considerable effort into researching all the options. I settled on the AT’s for what many claimed was their neutrality, which was important, given I needed them for mixing. They did not disappoint. The few quibbles that were noted (long cord, might be too small, ear cups are undersized, limited soundstage ) are all a non-issue.
My head is on the large side and the AT’s fit, just, but they fit. They are incredibly comfortable, light weight, and very well made. The ears cups, while not Sennheiser sized, are not overly small. They sit nicely and allow for a comfortable session, without fatigue. I sat through a four hour session where I pretty much forgot that I was wearing them. I run them through Acustica Sienna sim software, which negates the any soundstage concerns, and they absolutely shine!
Everything about them gives off an air of quality, with the exception, perhaps, of the tote bag that comes in the box. While a hard case would have been nice, I have no plans on throwing these into a backpack. If I need to take them somewhere, I guess I’m stuck with the box in which they were packaged; a compromise I’m willing to make, given the superb quality of the product.
As a 470ohm headphone, they do need power, so a proper amp, or interface, is a must. Other than that, for the price, I cannot imagine better value for the dollar.

This headphone beats the Sennheiser HD600/650 and any Beyerdynamic DT series any given day. Now, I know that, for most reading this review, this is a bold statement, but it does. Where the ATH-r70x excel versus the "audiophile reference models" mentioned above, is that - besides the expected characteristics of a truly neutral headphone and amazing, clear, detailed and defined mids and highs - the ATH-r70x adds the bass and sub-bass punch those models lack, while keeping transparency and neutrality across the spectrum - thanks to it's open design. Bass lines rumble and roar as they should Drum kicks carry the spacious punch they should carry without missing the detail of their initial attack , even in fast paced genres like metal. Instruments sound like you are actually in front of an live AMP or at the studio. (of course, this is limited by the quality of the original mix and recording) But whatever your recorded at home/studio will sound like the original source on this, meaning you can safely bring your vision forward in your work with those. It's unforgiving on bad mixes. And makes good ones shine in unexpected ways. Not sure how the Audiophile and prosumer studio community haven't picked up on those yet. It's definitely a gem hidden among the hype of models that were not improved for years.

I have been using the Sony MDR7506 for years and they are still good - but - I just spent an hour at home with the open style AT R70x - L+M boxing day price - they are light and airy to wear with clear, detailed and balanced sound... I am hooked!
