Yamaha's Reface CP is a 37-key mobile mini keyboard with 6 vintage keyboard types, 5 effects, sustain pedal input, built-in stereo speakers, MIDI connectivity, aux input, and dual line outputs.

The Vintage Keyboard Sound Engine offers six incredibly detailed vintage keyboard types, including early and late '70s tine electric piano, a late '60s reed electric piano, '70s struck string Clavinet, a toy piano and the Yamaha CP80 electric grand piano. Each keyboard type matches a carefully chosen Drive and Tremolo setting to provide an incredibly musical pairing. Five stomp box-style effects with direct control are also available.

Control

Based on the FS action found on the flagship Motif XF, the reface's HQ (High Quality) Mini Keys provide premium feel and response for fast, accurate and natural playing. The Sustain pedal input allows the sustain function for all electric piano sounds.

Mobility & Connectivity

The 2W, 3cm stereo speaker system lets you play any place, any time, for up to five hours using six "AA" batteries. And its specially designed bass reflex port technology enhances the bass response for full, rich sound.

• USB "TO HOST" allows MIDI connectivity to your USB-equipped computer or iOS device
• Dual 1/4"unbalanced line outputs provide connection to mixers, audio interfaces, DI boxes and more
• A 3.5mm aux line input lets you connect and hear mobile devices, tablets and more through the instrument

If you want the sounds of a Rhodes, but don't have the thousands for an original or don't want to mess about with computers, you get the Yamaha Reface CP. Very simple, hands-on and GREAT sounds. You have 2 Rhodes, a Wurly, Yamaha E piano and Toy Piano. There's also a trick to get the Yamaha Grand piano sound. Very cool on-board effects as well. I love this. Was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted Rhodes for a reasonable price without needing a computer. Mission accomplished.

Wow. As someone who has been doing an increasing amount of playing, I was looking for something that could give me those sweet vintage EP tones without either spending a ton of cash, or having to cart around a laptop and interface to play out. The Korg SV1 would be my go-to choice, but was outside of my budget this time. I thought the little CP might just tide me over and I couldn't be more impressed with it! I love that it isn't trying to do too many things for too many users. It's so simple to dial in a rich warm tone you can't help but be inspired to come up with new ideas. Fit and finish is excellent, and I never realized how awesome it would be to take it camping! I was thinking I wouldn't like the little keys but after a couple hours I've gotten quite used to them. My only complaint is that I wish Yamaha put a USB midi in instead of the midi jack on the back. Hardly anything has a midi out now, so if you want to drive it with a bigger keyboard not only do you have to buy a USB to midi adapter, you need to buy a USB A to B adapter as well. For 99% of users, you could control this thing with a printer cable if it had a USB midi in. The little speakers do for very quiet play but plugging in to any decent bluetooth speaker makes for a convenient battery powered amp should you need to keep up with a singing crowd at the fire.

I felt I should mention...Yamaha Reface owners were surprised to find a hidden "easter egg" in their synths: an acoustic grand piano sound! It's not hard to dial it up, but it's best if you search online for "Reface CP hidden piano"... Just another reason I love this little keyboard. Cheers

I had been thinking of one of these for a while...of how much fun it would be to have a little "jam" piano to take to the cottage, or to acoustic campfire jams...where I have occasionally showed up with a small synth and ghetto blaster, etc. But to have actual electric piano tones, THAT would be cool! ...so I had checked this little guy out, and immediately was impressed by the Mark 1 Rhodes and the Wurlitzer (I have an EP-200)...lots of "bark" and bite...and great effects that are well matched to the voices. It's almost funny hearing how good the Rhodes sound is out of this tiny keyboard. And the digital or analogue delays are outstanding, as are the phaser (No Quarter around the fire!) and wah for the clav. The CP-70 patch sounds as close to an acoustic piano as it will do, and it's close enough. There's a sustain pedal input and that makes a huge difference. The one thing that had slowed me down a bit was the 3 octaves. But the 2nd or 3rd time I fiddled with one, I realized that for ELECTRIC piano, which this pretty much is (and clav), I don't play with my hands nearly as far apart as I do on a grand/digital piano. The same is true on the clav...I like the lower octaves the best, and generally keep my hands fairly close together, and octave or 2....so the C-C 3 octaves actually works out not that bad at all... Of course, it easily transposes, even during a solo. Secondly I was unsure if the speakers would keep up with several acoustic guitars being hammered on - they don't, not really. So the first thing I did was splash out $50 for a 20 watt "Bluetooth speaker" that accepts a wired input. Now I have triple the volume, plus some extra bottom end...much better for my purposes. The speakers are fine for writing, or practice, but to "jam" with acoustic guitars, I feel it needs a little external speaker. Finally, there was price. I marked it down a bit on "value" because I am cheap. But I finally grabbed it at a discount, and so I am overall VERY pleased with this little piano! As a sound module controlled by a larger keyboard, this unit produces as authentic a Rhodes/Wurly sound as any I've heard...fully studio-ready.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
