Fender's flagship Bassbreaker 45 Combo delivers grit, crunch and grunt in style, along with mile-wide dynamic range and redefined dirty tube tones. This powerful, roadworthy beast dishes out plenty of authentic Fender sound with a modern twist.

Two EL34 power tubes spice up the traditional Bassman recipe of three 12AX7 preamp tubes. This exotic flavor is further garnished with a side of "channel jumping" via the dedicated "Both" input for savory crunch and punchy attack. The "Normal" and "Bright" inputs and traditional tone stack are still on hand, delivering timeless Fender sounds. The variable output power knob-varying from one to 45 watts - tames the raw power of the Bassbreaker 45, providing full, hard rocking sound at any volume through the two 12" 8-ohm Celestion V-Type speakers, without sacrificing gain or low end. The 4-8-16-ohm output switch ensures compatibility with almost any speaker cab, but the Bassbreaker 45 Combo excels when paired with a Bassbreaker BB-212 extension cabinet.

The Bassbreaker 45 Combo features updated appointments - dark lacquered tweed, black grille cloth, white pilot light and block Fender logo - and large knobs that make it a breeze to quickly find your sound. Nodding to the past while looking to the future, the Bassbreaker 45 Combo is an indispensable tool for the modern guitarist's sonic arsenal.

I've been using the Bassbreaker 45 as my main amp for about 9 months now and it has proven to be incredibly reliable. To address the biggest question most will have about this amp: this does not sound like your typical Fender, nor does it sound like a Marshall - it has a distinct character all it's own. Maybe it's similar to a Bassman (I wouldn't imagine it would due to the different tubes) but you can judge that for yourself. PROS: When you can turn it up to the point where it's breaking (more on that later) it is arguably one of, if not, the best sounding driven Fender amp I have ever heard. The EQ has a pretty good usable range, having no trouble setting up for use with a Strat or for Open C slide on P90s. The ability to just plug into the Both channel instead of jumping Normal to Bright is also a very welcome addition. MEH: Don't let the Power Scaling fool you - while this amp does allow for adjustment to drive at lower volumes, it's more of a 15W to 45W adjustment. Comparing the 1 Watt mode on this to the 1 Watt mode on a Hughes & Kettner 36 through a V30 2x12 is almost night and day. This could be really efficient speakers/circuitry, or a product of how they are doing the power scaling, but just be warned that this is not an apartment friendly amp. I have yet to have the opportunity to play in a space where I can turn it up to the 45 Watts, and have been relegated to using it solely between roughly 1-10 Watts, which is a shame as the amp comes alive as the wattage goes up. Maybe putting the head through a 1x12 will produce more manageable volumes while still retaining the character of the amp. There is no effects loop, which isn't an issue for how I run my effects, but definitely could be a concern for you. CONS: There is some rattle out of the box, but this I've found to be common with a lot of Fender tube amps. There is also no Reverb (I understand that there is no reverb on the Bassman as well). This may not be a concern if you have a dedicated reverb pedal, but is something to be aware of (I had to purchase a reverb pedal to use with the amp and squeeze it onto a full board). VERDICT: For the price, it is one of the best sounding amps I have used. If volume is a concern, definitely try out the head plugged into a 1x12 and see if it makes a difference. The lack of an effects loop doesn't bother me, but could be an issue for you. The lack of a reverb seems like an odd choice for a Fender amp, even if it is meant to be faithful to the original Bassman circuit. If it got damaged or stolen I would definitely order a new one. I give the amp a solid 4.5 and would happily recommend you give one a try before picking up your next gigging amp.

I you are in the market for a tube amp that has great warmth and works well with effects look no further. Great price and no useless bells and whistles , this amp greatest feature is the control from 1 watt to 45 watts. Dialing in your amp to its surroundings has never been easier. How many times have you been jamming at different locations and you cant get the same sound as you would in your personal jam area. This feature itself is worth the purchase. plus the clean fender sound with bassman warmth is amazing . Also the volume control through your guitar to amp is very responsive ,going from clean to gritty without the use of a stomp. I am very pleased

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
