The Oasis Guitar Humidifier accomplishes the following:

• You can see when Oasis is ready for refill
• Long lasting humidification
• Won't leak due to overfilling
• Two levels of leak protection

Stabilized to Never Touch the Body of Your Instrument
You probably already know that your instrument can crack in dry weather. Repairing a cracked top of a fine guitar is both expensive and can alter the sound of your instrument. To solve this problem, guitarists have been using "sound hole" humidifiers since the 1960's. These humidifiers do have a number of drawbacks. The first is that you cannot see when they need to be refilled. When you do refill them, they can be overfilled and drip inside your expensive instrument. This is because all currently available "sound hole" humidifiers have openings to allow for water evaporation. The job of protecting the instrument against leaks is left to an absorbent medium such as a sponge or floral foam, which can be over saturated with water.

A few drops of the gel dropped on the guitar top inside the case. The damage seemed small but it kept getting darker so the guitar had to be sent for the refinishing. The stress and aggravation are just not worth it.

The gel (?) inside leaked on the top of the guitar while in the case and stained it. The damage was costly because the guitar was quite expensive (Collings). It probably works great as a humidifier but all in all - I don't think it's worth the risk.

Really cheap piece of plastic, frustrating to get into your guitar and really just a regrettable buy.

I bought this for the only acoustic guitar I own. After assembling the unit, putting distilled water in it, and the cap on top, I found that after putting it in the sound hole as recommended, when the guitar case is closed, the cap pushes down on the strings. I removed it from the sound hole and laid it inside the case, which didn't do much good. This will no longer be part of my guitar maintenance items.

I've had my Oasis for over 2 years now without any issues. I typically store my guitar case upright on its side so if it was going to leak, it likely would have by now. I like being able to see when it's in need of water. I don't like the "recharging" idea, but I haven't done it yet. The price is a little high considering you're supposed to refill the gel every so often.

I had this humidifier for about two years. It then started to leak into my expensive guitar. Not cool.

Used it for one winter season with no problems. The second winter, I used the refill crystals, but it leaked from the seams and damaged my acoustic. Repaired at L & M. I emailed the humidifier manufacturer and complained, but my email was never responded to. Will try another product this winter.

Have now had this for about 2 Winnipeg winters and it works well. I would recommend it as it is easy to use, fill, etc. No problems with leaking.

After about 1 year the seams started dripping. Not good for the inside of an acoustic.

Caused major swelling in the back of my classical guitar, perhaps it was only that one humidifier, but I probably would not take the chance again. I suppose it does not stop increasing humidity.

I was afraid of leaking, but I emailed Martin customer service and they said actually the Oasis is the only humidifier Martin recommends! Sold! I've had it for 3 months now and no problems. Easy to refill and easy to view when it needs filling. Great product.

This is a fine device to ensure proper humidity levels in your guitar. It is simple to use and to monitor water levels to know when to re-fill. Use distilled water and this will last a lifetime. The great part about this humidifier is it will never touch your guitar, should never drip or leak, and can be visually checked to know when you should re-fill. I highly recommended this product.
