The tone of this recorder is lovely and I really do appreciate the quality of the sound. Unfortunately, the tuning is off. If I were a professional and had perfect pitch, I could probably compensate for this, but I am neither. On my specific recorder C5 is slightly sharp, D5 is good, but E5 is a 1/4 tone low. F-A are all just slightly flat, but B5 and C6 are both a 1/4 tone flat. In the second register (which, I grant, I have greater difficulty controlling beyond A) is worse. Now over my disappointment, I have put the recorder to excellent use, and it has become my primary demonstration instrument, as I can show students how to knock out the block, they can see the fine edge of the labium, and can really get the idea of how a recorder works.

I've had this recorder for about five months and I have to say I am very pleased with its sound. The quality is pretty good, but I feel it is necessary to do some VERY fine sanding (600 grit, 1200 grit sandpaper) to the holes and windway as there were wood splinters. Think of this as a "you finish kit." All in all I am very pleased, it sounds great, looks good, and after some finishing sanding, is an exceptional value. Thank you Vancouver store for the great service.
