Just picked one up from L&M Chinook, and I can honestly say that I have never experienced such clean-tonal bliss. It has also given me a better appreciation for my Les paul and Godin Summit.
Granted this is my first full-tube amp, I must say this Amp has far exceeded my expectations.
I couldn’t recommend this amp strongly enough to any serious player, as it will bring both you and your guitar into a new dimension of sonic ecstasy .

I've compared this amp to a lot of other amps, but can't find one with a clean tone as clear and big as this amp. The Mesa Lonestar does come really close, but it costs quite a lot more and the reverb doesn't sound as good. I wish the Twin had a presence and gain control to make it more versatile, but at the same time I like how simple this amp is. It's been tough finding the right pedals to get a distortion tone I'm happy with through this amp, but I need to have that clean tone!

I have a little different review on this very heavy amp than the other two reviewers. I got mine when they first came out having heard about it just before they were released. I ordered one as soon as was possible. Played it for years as is from Fender and it was fine. Mostly used a Boogie V-Twin in front of it for volume control (decrease) and ch switching. Today it sits in my living room with El-84 converter and tubes in the two left positions looking at it from the rear. I used it this way for about five years. Then earlier this year changed the speakers Celestina V30. On the Vibrato Ch Vol is three, bass 8, Trb 6 and mid doesn't matter but have it on three or lower. Strat a little higher, LP lower for the mid. Switch is on High. Guitar volume from just over 5 to about 9. Other than cutting off half the speaker mounting bolts the amp is totally reversible to factory. The best thing is just how much you can easily effect the sound of one of these amps with out needing a tech. It is a great platform to experiment from. Similar could be done with the other Vintage reissues as well. But the thing about the Twin Reverb is the two twelve speakers which provide a large and tight bottom end. Gives a Strat "body" and LP or SG, it gives them everything. From Michael Bloomfield to Buddy Guy. The Vintage Super Reverb would be a really great platform for this as well. I just think a Super Reverb takes up too much room in the Living Room.

The LOUD on-stage standard for many in rock and roll over the years, this 85-watt (and just as heavy in pounds) amp has a sound all its own, sweet, warm, and very responsive tone stack with great bottom end. But it's fine at home with volume on 4 and your guitar volume turned down. But to really appreciate this amp you need a big space and adjust the tone stack to suit your taste, and not crank it necessarily to 10 on volume. So much has been written in Internet reviews on this amp, just Google it. I bought a used one built in April 2007. Probably Fender's best reverb. Add delay, some chorus, and you'll be amazed. It's a keeper. No problems, takes pedals nicely and has lots of volume and a distinctive warm tone of its own from the 12-inch Jensens. It's a Fender classic. The guys at L&M will tell you all about this baby.

Instead of the 2x12 speaker configuration in this combo amp there is one 15 inch speaker. The ’65 Twin Custom 15 is an all-tube combo amp that pairs an 85-watt reissue ’65 Twin Reverb chassis with an enlarged cabinet and single 15” speaker instead of the usual pair of 12s. The Twin’s vibrato, reverb and crystal clean tones are great as always, and the 15’s extra-fat clear bottom end, smooth treble and high power handling are fantastic. Fender designed an updated speaker with Eminence based on the famous JBL D130F model Fender used in the ’60s. Its cast frame, shallow cone, high flux density, large voice coil and aluminum center cap deliver clean, precise performance for players in all genres, with amazing 3-D bass and treble separation. The amp is a pleasure to play and to look at. For those that wants tons of clean headroom this is the amp to get. It will take a microphone via a small mixing board in the normal channel. You can use your guitar in the vibrato/reverb channel. Have used this amp for practice and on stage. It projects 360 degrees like no other amp I have heard. You will have no trouble being heard with this amp. And you will be heard clean. If you want some gain, a great option is a Seymour Duncan SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue; a High-quality, two-channel, guitar preamp pedal voiced for blues. Twin Tube Blue's high-plate voltage and 100% vacuum tube signal path allows the tubes to operate at their fullest potential and provide maximum dynamic range. This is Fender’s best re-issue blackface amp.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
