The 50s Fender Bassman was the pro bassists answer to amplifying a great new invention: the Fender Precision Bass guitar. This powerful 50-watt rig could easily compete with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, four-piece drum kit with calfskin heads, and maybe even an electric guitar through a nice, new 10-watt amp! By the 60s and 70s, the original all-tube Tweed 4x10 Bassman was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. Even some emerging British amp designers of the day copied its circuitry for use in their most celebrated designs.

In the 1990s, Fender released an affordable reissue of the now-collectible 59 Bassman amplifier to massive acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalizers, and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender tube amp. The Bassmans wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency swirl make it the perfect vehicle for building a great tone with almost any guitar or effect. The reissue Bassman continues to be a staple of the Fender guitar amp line to this day.

The new 59 Bassman LTD is enhanced with:
Genuine lacquered Tweed covering.
Finger-joined pine cabinet for woody, resonant tone.
Original spec 5AR4 rectifier tube for natural compression when playing hard.
Internal bias pot makes it easier to experiment with various output tubes.
Two GT-6L6 Groove Tube output tubes.
Three improved 12AX7 preamp tubes.
Fitted cover.

I owned an original 57 Bassman. I can absolutely confirm it is identical in every way to the origin. The original was one of the best Bass amps you could ever buy, and so is this! Think it's too expensive? You're wrong! NOTHING ELSE compares. If you want the best, you gotta pay.

The '59 Bassman LTD. truly is a pleasure. I started with a princeton then 2 Blues Deluxe Reissue. The last BDR had circuitry and coaxial cable problems that were fixed under warranty. I first thought the '59 was only for high volume, I was wrong. It's fantastic at low mid and of course, loud. Mine is new model and already has a dynamic sound, can't wait till it loosens up when it breaks in. The 4 speakers is the magic. It delivers amazing sounds, highs and lows, all at once, it's amazing. I have mine on a stand, up off the ground and it projects best, think the cab has a natural reverb when letting chords and notes ring out. I love that it's just like the original, with same options and nothing added for modern demand. It has the sound and feel of a tweed much more expensive. Well done Fender.

I bought this amp about a year ago after researching and trying out many tube amps. The simplicity without effects drew me to it. I use my pedals for that to create my own tone and the amp is very pedal friendly. The pure sound of this amplifier turned all of my musician friend's heads on my first gigs with them. No wonder guitarist Brian Setzer loves these amps. They will make your guitars sing with warm beautiful tone. There was one little design issue where it is a bit difficult to plug into one of the normal input ports(hence the 4.5 in quality) but I could not be happier with my purchase.. The features score is 3 only because of the aforementioned simplicity with no effects.

This amp probably has one of the widest range of pure tones one can get, with 4 input each having its own flavor. I use it for practicing with band and all gigs. If you are not in a band and practice at home, this is probably not your best choice as it shines when played loud... and it can be loud. The reason the rating appears low is because it has no features like reverb, nor build-in drive and it is not cheap, and is on the heavy side. But to me, aside from the hands that plays... a good sound starts with a good amp.

Bought this 5 months ago, was looking for a unique, big tone, and I think I found it. I am a big believer that tone and good sound start with having a good amp. This amp is so responsive and has 4 different inputs each having their own brightness to it, and you can combined them. If you try different pedals or guitars in front of it, you can really dial-in so many different sounds. But you do have to spend time changing playing with eq at first to dial it in cause it has such a big range of tones. Only downfall is, it is a bit large to lug around... but I still do it cause I feel the sound I get out of the amp is worth it. I will probably still keep trying other amps, however this one set the bar pretty high, so I don't see it being replaced any time soon. If you are a basement player and have limited funds... this is probably not the amp for you, cause it has no reverb, no drive channels and it is loud... but it does sound creamy.

great amp for basic "vintage" tones and more if pedals are used. It resonates like no other and makes every guitar better! can be played at bedroom levels with the right combination of pedals.

Pure, clean, punchy tone that breaks up and growls at around 5, which is really loud. Great for gigging, med.- large venues. Not recomended for a practice, (bedroom) amp.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
