Applications for the BM 6A cover every aspect of sound engineering and reproduction, including music and speech monitoring and mixing, radio station, OB vehicles, edit suites, post production, recording studios and playback rooms.

Their small size combined with their brilliant performance also make them suitable for use as rear channel speakers in surround systems. In combination with the BM 14S, it is also well suited for a full-blown, 5.1 system in smaller rooms.

The BM 6A features an electronic, 4th order, phase-aligned crossover with a crossover point at 2.2kHz, which feeds two, high performance, discrete, MOSFET amplifiers rated at 100W each.

The low frequency section is driven by a low frequency equalizer offering a choice between extended, critical, damped response or more conventional, higher Qt response for more level but less low frequency output. Included in the electronics is a complex protection circuit, which helps to prevent accidental damage to the drivers yet still providing maximum transient response.

The BM 6A is housed with an elegant matte cabinet with radius edged construction on the front baffle to reduce boundary effects and improve overall sound quality.

I just stopped in to see if these speakers were still being sold and seen my old review and thought it would be a great idea to update 7 years later. I am not going to talk about quality etc. as we all know what these babies can do. So here we are 7 years later ..lol I still own and use these speakers almost every day, I have had no issues at all with them. I treat these speakers with the upmost care !! no pops or crankin the snot out of them for hours, etc. I do turn them on and off everyday which I hear is not best thing for them?? The tweaters and woofers have no issues or any signs of fatigue at this time but I am sure the caps are going to have to be replaced soon if not already. The woofer rubber surrounds are still in perfect condition. The case has no cracking in paint/stain or the seams etc. they truly look and sound as good as the day I bought them !! Do I have any regrets ... Absolutely not !! I am pretty used to them after 7 years but can say with all honesty, they are still killer sounding speakers and worth every penny !! I do have to mention the Yamaha sub I bought at the same time is still going strong as well !! Hope this helps a bit.. All the best ...

Bought these off James Miles back in 2005. One of the speakers sounded fuzzy and he took back both as they are a Matched Pair, and gave me new ones. Excellent service; been going there since 2001 for my audio needs. One of the speakers began making a fuzzy noise when pushed after about 4 years of casual, low volume use; they are near field remember. Not sure if I can replace the speakers still. Either way, they sound really nice and a great place to buy gear.

I would have written exactly what the first review says ...so I wont write it again ..lol so I will write about L&M customer service a bit. Just to justify !! I have been a looong standing account holder and pay my bills on time etc. with that said-- I as well went first off with the Yamaha H8's which L&M lent to me for 2 weeks no charge !! Thank you guys !! and as above found them very hard on the ears in a short period of time and feel there is some coloration. also I felt I needed a sub to bring the low tones out better. Think the H8's had a more apparent low end than the BM6a. I tried the Adams and way too thin sounding for my taste and every time I went back I kept listening the BM6A and just loving them. I finally ended up buying the BM6A's but kept the Yamaha 10" sub. was a good price and did what I needed it to do. Just couldn't justify the Dynaudio sub cost. Bottom line is L&M are really great at helping make those harder and more expensive purchases easier and all I can say is that the speakers are definitely worth the money ...unfortunately !! :-)

Bought these monitors late summer. Very clear, quite loud but does not fatigue the ears drastically. Tried the H8's and could not mix more than an hour or so before my ears were tired. I found I needed a sub to really bring sub sonics to a proper even listening level. Took a few months to dial in a proper level..ugh and still feel it could be tweaked a tad more..lol. I listened and borrowed a few different monitors and no matter what I had, I kept going back to the bm6a's. Honestly, just didn't want to spend that much!! ultimately nothing compared for a smooth top end, very clear mid section and a tight, full, non boomy bottom end, it does reproduce sub sonics but for my ears I needed it to be louder and more pronounced. I bought what I feel is an amazing set of monitors for my ears.. World class speakers so of course they come highly recommended..Thanx to the sales guy for all his help and patience as this purchase took well over 2 months or so.. :-)

I have had my dynaudio BM6As for a couple of years. It takes a while to learn any monitors. These ones give a clear, balanced, unhyped sound. You can hear the details in an honest presentation. They won't sound as good as your hyped stereo speakers but if you can make your mix sound good on these, your track will sound good anywhere and that, I believe, is the whole point.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
