The RED SERIES sets: a unique look and a strong, consistent sound. Until now, it was necessary to increase a string's gauge to reach lower frequencies. But increasing the string's diameter also increases internal dampening. That makes the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled: the thicker the string, the duller the sound.
Aquila's revolutionary new approach - never introduced before - changes the specific weight of the material, increasing it progressively to leave the gauge unchanged.

I'm a pretty heavy uke player, these days I switch out my strings every couple of months or when one breaks, and this was the second set of strings I ever bought for my tenor. I initially bought this set only to use the low G, which I used for over a year with no issues before I realized I should probably switch my strings out more often as they were starting to sound bad. I will note, after all that time the low G red string still sounded alright. I switched out all the strings except the low G, so that I had this complete set on my uke. It sounded really good! By sound alone, this would be my favorite set so far. But within a week, the E string broke, and a couple weeks later the A string broke. I have to wonder if the variable densities affect the strength. Just for the record, they were all individually wrapped, and they were stored safely between when I switched the G and when I switched the others. I have yet to buy a set again, despite the great sound, because I've been trying out different strings, and I'm hoping I'll find something that I like the sound of that can stand up to my playing.
In summary, the sound is my favorite I've ever tried, but despite the incredible longevity of the wound low G string, the absurdly short lifespan of the highest strings means I'd hesitate to recommend this set. I wish there were more reviews of this set out there, so I could know if anyone else had the same experience - maybe I had a faulty string or two, for all I know.
