I found the soprano recorder too high-pitched and hard on the ears, and while the alto was better, it didn't go low enough into those sweet notes, so I decided to try a tenor recorder. I had read reviews on other sites complaining about the wider distance between holes being hard on the hands (if you have small hands or even average-sized female hands). It is true at first, but don't despair. Just like any instrument: practice, practice, practice eventually stretches those fingers apart. Finger stretching exercises help as well. Most importantly, be gentle on yourself and have patience! My first attempts were maybe 5-10 minutes long because my right hand got so stiff and sore. At first, I couldn't reach that beautiful low C and I was wondering if the instrument was faulty, but it turns out my fingers weren't completely sealing the holes. Thankfully, I'm getting it now. A bit of practice every day and it does get easier! Is it worth the trouble to get that beautiful mellow sound? Yes.

Am pleased with the product quality and consider it very good value for money as a beginner recorder / instrument. Ordering on-line was quick, secure and delivery was very fast--ordered Sunday PM and received Tuesday AM. Only problem was that the thumb-rest and fingering chart had inadvertantly been left out. Am having to follow up with Sales to get those. Will comment later on how that goes.
