I have owned my pair of the HD280 Pro's for almost 10 years. I use them for monitoring sound from live sound consoles. The over the ear, closed back design are helpful in isolating outside sounds allowing me concentrate on my mix. My pair have stood up over the years and are still rockin'! I would recommend these for anyone requiring a decent pair of closed back design monitoring headphones.

I owned a pair for 2.5 years. The headphone covers are already all frayed away. I was going to buy new covers but replacements cost 1/2 the price of the headphones. Last week the left headphone went dead, so I will just throw them in the garbage and buy new ones, Maybe Shure? Before these I had Fostex headphones that lasted 15 years.

I've owned these for many years and used them for recording and mixing. They are comfortable for long sessions and have survived abuse from kids and travelling. I love that they fold down flat and don't have little thin wires that stick out like some other headphones I own. My only wish is for a removable cable for easier transport. Overall a fantastic closed back headphone. I would certainly buy them again if needed.

I\'ve had several pairs of these for the last 15 years or so. They are great -- they sound good, they are comfortable, the cord is long enough. The only issue I\'ve had is, if they\'re many years old, the padding at the top may start to fray a bit. Even my oldest pair still work great, though. The reason I\'ve bought so many is that I keep them in different places for different purposes (one for my guitar upstairs, one for my piano downstairs, one for my synth in the garage, etc.) They are so affordable that multiple pairs is an option. Just buy them!

I do a fair bit of home recording, but I also bring these with me when I'm tracking sessions in bigger studios so I don't have to deal with other people's sweat. I've had them for about 4 years without any problems. They sound great, super comfortable and have good isolation. I appreciate that they are modular, so all the parts on these are replaceable and can be purchased separately if anything wears out.

Purchased on November 16, 2018 -- Stopped Working on February 09, 2021.
The Right Speaker just stopped on me. I have babied these headphones. They never left my desk and never put any strain or flex on the cord, never dropped or abused at all. Now that I search the internet I see this is a common issue. Very disappointed as this does not represent Value For Dollar to me as I have headphones I've purchased at gas stations that have lasted longer and endured rigorous beatings.
Also, the curled wire is Very heavy. I will not be purchasing these again and will certainly be looking at other companies like AKG for my next set of cans.

I originally bought a pair of these back in 2014 and they lasted 3 years with no issues - worked really well, good isolation, good sound quality, very comfy. They were unfortunately stolen from me in 2017, so I bought a new pair.
About 1.5 years later, my coworker tried them on. He had to extend the headphones (which is very stiff!) and the right ear stopped working entirely. Took it in, got a replacement for free under warranty. Happened again 6 months later, so I got another replacement, still for free. It has just happened AGAIN, and my warranty has expired. If you get the extended warranty then the risk might be worth it, but I've decided to get a different pair from a different company which arrive tomorrow.

I have had these headphones for about 3 years now, used them mostly for producing and listening to music, and never had any issues. I've put them in harm's way more times than I should, and they have been no worse for wear beyond a few small scuffs.
They sound fantastic, very flat EQ with a smooth bass response that is accurate without being overwhelming. I've worn them on public transit, including the Vancouver SkyTrain which is screechy as hell sometimes, and can attest that they have great noise isolation, especially for the price.
My grandparents, bless their hearts, have this loudass grandfather clock in their living room. Whenever I stay with them, I have to sleep in the living room directly below the clock. These headphones are good enough at noise isolation that I can actually have a good night's sleep if I wear them to bed, despite the hourly clanging from the clock.
Thank you for your service, HD 280s. May you continue to grace my ears with your sweet ecstasy for years to come.

The cable is way too heavy and pulls down on the left side where it is attached to the headset. I was hoping to use these for playing my electric drum kit but was very disappointed with the lack of option for the cable and the fact that it probably weight over a kilo. Not very comfortable on the head as it is a bit too tight and can produce ear fatigue with long term use.

After about a year, the right speaker quit. The headset is assembled with annoying screws with a proprietary star head so they're just about impossible to take apart and fix. And lots of cheap plastic in the headset that makes them kinda flimsy. It's too bad, they sounded great and were very comfortable. But just not built to last. My first sennheisers lasted about 10 years. Bought these and they failed right after the warranty expired. Won't buy Senns again.

Like the natural sound for producing, mixing and general listening. Low end is definitely sacrificed. Once I switch to using studio monitors or anything else I have to crank the bass way down in my mixes. Other than that not many complaints about the sound for this price range, pretty accurate. CANNOT WEAR THESE FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR WITHOUT MY EARS HURTING! For cheap headphones the sound is on point, but absolutely cannot stand wearing them for very long. I try and not pay attention to it, but after a long session my ears are very uncomfortably numb, and sore :( Maybe its the shape of my head, or the pair I got, but if you plan on doing long sessions I would pay the extra $$ for something with better low end and not agonizingly painful to your wear.

Got them as some studio tracking headphones, play mainly bass and cant hear myself. Very noticeable lack of low frequency if you playback a pop or rap track through them. Sure, bass is sacraficed for clear highs or whatever, but come on Sennheiser this is a bit much. Compared to nearfield monitors not flat at all.

Comfortable? Yes, very.
Well Constructed? They look & feel like they will last for many years.
Price? Very favourable compared to the competition for the quality you receive.
Sound Quality? Absolutely spectacular!
I've been an owner of many different Sennheiser 'phones over the decades & they all were excellent. These ones are no exception. I think that they have the best overall sound of any of the one's I've ever owned and I'm listening to them through 56 year old ears that have had their fair share of use & abuse!
Very pleased with my purchase & think I will pick up another pair & put them away if needed in the future.

I can really hear the instruments well and overall they sound great especially for the type of music I listen to. I got it because after trying out a couple of headphones at the shop, they were the best ones I could afford. However, it is not recommended that you buy these headphones if you wear glasses or have quite a small head. In my case, both applied and they kept sliding off my head and gave me a headache because the pads kept pressing onto my glasses. I didn't recognize this problem when I was just trying them out but ya I've had it for 4 months and they are still quite uncomfortable. I'm very satisfied with the way it sounds, but I do wish I got a different set that fit me better.

These are probably the most popular studio headphones out there, and get consistently good reviews. However, compared to another set I have by another company that also cost less than $200, the HD280s do not fare well. Harsh tone, making it difficult to distinguish elements. Ok for tracking I guess. But even for that I found they occasionally started slipping off my head while playing guitar. Not as good as their reputation might have you believe. I'd compare against others rather than go by the hype.

Ok - didn't know much about these before I bought them. Started doing some research on the internet about the best bang for the buck and this model kept coming up. Many reviewers pick them over more expensive, designer brands like Beats Audio. Well, I've had them for 6 months now and I have no complaints - they are durable, the never feel like they are going to bend or break when folding and are super portable for their size. The only drawback is their size when they are folded out but again, their comfort when wearing them for longer periods is really second to none. Highly recommended.

If you have the money you should buy two, they have great sound isolation on a plane or in a car. Comfortable. All the foam pads are replaceable, so thats nice. They seem to be well made and durable. Apparently if you wear them around your neck they will press against your carotid arteries and cause you to go unconscious, but i havn't had this problem yet. They have a real professional sound, you can easily hear all the different parts of the music. They fold really nice too. And they are in the movie the departed which is also epic. And they are made in Ireland and the Irish are awesome.
