The Silver Jubilee Series was created in 1987 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of Marshall Amplification and the 50th year of Jim Marshall being in the music business, hence the Silver Jubilees original '25/50' designation. The limited edition all-valve Silver Jubilee amplifiers looked stunning in silver vinyl covering with chrome-plated control panel. Based on JCM800 2203 and 2204 Master Volume models, the Jubilee amplifiers were the first Marshall products with Pentode/Triode switching, which halves power output. The Jubilee Series featured an innovative, if somewhat unusual, preamp circuit which had three gain 'modes': 'Clean', Rhythm Clip, and footswitchable Lead Channel.

Features:

• Same sonic characteristics and functionality of the 2555
• External bias points on the chassis for re-valving and servicing
• Five speaker output jacks ranging from 16 Ohm to 4 Ohm
• Improved (DC) heaters ensure no noise
• Black fibreglass wires that are high temperature and high voltage resistant

OK so it doesn't quite do the high gain like a JCM or have the versatility of the JVM, but what it does do, it does very very well. That distinctive 70's-90's rock CRUNCH that says loud Marshall. I own two JVM's as well and they have way more range than the 2555x, but the Jubilee just nails that sweet spot rock tone so well, and the clean channel is surprisingly shimmery too which surprised me. Both channels take pedals very nicely too to add some of that versatility. Would be curious to try the newer mini models, but doubt they'll ever do what this amp does so well.

I bought the 1987 50 watt head earlier this year , and got this a few months later so I'm not constantly on the old one . It sounds quite similar to the older amp especially when I crank it . It's a cool versatile amp lots of headroom , gain options . Not as dark and filthy as the vintage . Honestly I love it , I'll never sell it . But it will never be a 1987 .

This amp is absolutely fabulous. Lots of people want amps to do 100 things and have this and do that. This amp doesnt have all of those features but you dont need them on an amp. I just want an amp that does 1 thing and does it well. This is that amp. It has 2 channels, has a rhythm clip mode for extra gain, VERY effective EQ section. To be honest i ordered mine from over in the UK (special ordering it in Black Tolex) and it came up over $1000 cheaper, including duties and the whole $75 it takes to change the transformer from 230v to 120v, than if i was to order one from here or any other Canadian retailer. I really wanted to buy from here but they make it difficult when i can save the amount of money i saved

For the money of a tubed head made in England you can't beat this one. Love the 50/100 switch. It's probably the biggest reason I went with this one over the JCM800. You can play cranked at home and not loose tone. Did my research online and found out the tubes are the same as a JCM800's. Plus I got it in sale online for $2100 vs $3000 for a JCM800. Like another review stated it's pretty bare bones. But that's alright. I had another head that had digital effects and they were crap. If you need to ad reverb or chorus buy an MXR pedal. Don't forget the pull channel. I didn't know it had it for a few months after buying it. Just pull the knob out and turn the dial. Probably my favourite channel! Great rock/metal tone. Also a big fan of the look of it. The chrome hardware looks great. Overall great head.

One of the best sounding Marshalls ever, but it is pretty much a one trick pony. It does that tight biting rock crunch better than pretty much any amp including a JCM 800 but is pretty simple by modern standards. No reverb, single channel, and the cleans, like most Marshalls, are good but not great. The pentode/triode switch, switchable clipping and effects loop add some functionality, but it is all about cranking the gain and hitting the big chords with this one. If you want a rock machine, this is it. If you want a versatile and flexible amp that can do anything, look elsewhere.

Great amp! Rock, Blues, 80's metal, this amp can do it all. The 50/100 watt feature is great to have. Of course this amp sounds at its best cranked.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
