OrB-X are percussion mallets for drummers. Drummers destroy tympani mallets on cymbals!
Felt mallets are too hard and heavy, making it difficult to articulate intricate patterns. An Orb-X mallet head weight less than a gram, they come in 4 diameter sizes. 25 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm and 45mm. The smaller sizes compress more and have a softer sound. The larger sizes compress less and have more contact sound. They all sound great on drum set, congas and bongos. These are great for Orff instruments as well. Because they are so light weight, drummers can play rhythmic patterns on cymbals that were not practical with tympani mallets.
The Orb-X25W has a 25 millimetre white mallet head on a black maple drum stick.

I use the ORBX 35mm model (because there are other models/sizes). They are perfect for softer playing on toms or cymbals. They are very light.

I picked these up a year ago and the mallet head seems to be stripping out. I only use it to tune my drumheads so this is really bad design. Will look into something from Los Cabos next instead. They're also a bit pricy for what they are.
