LudwigMasters Publications Festive Folk Dances - Whear - Full Orchestra - Gr. 4.5
Composer: Paul W. WHEAR (b. 1925)
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Full Orchestra
Paul Whear wrote this work at the request of Loras John Schissel for performance with the Blossom Festival Orchestra. These dances grew from the tradition of celebrating memorial events in the lives of the hard-working settlers who formed our nation. As the settlers expanded westward from the original Atlantic states, they overwhelmed any lack of sophistication in their music with sheer enthusiasm for the music makers and dancers and their playful rowdiness. These two movements can be programmed independently or together.
