Look No Further. The Answer for Looping is BOSS!

The BOSS RC-1 is the simplest and most user-friendly Loop Station ever. Since the RC-20 Loop Station was first released in 2001, BOSS has led the way by continually releasing new looping products. Though they've been used and enjoyed by various looping artists and performers, BOSS still pursued an easier and more affordable solution. The RC-1 is a straightforward looper that is easy to operate. Experience the fun of looping when you record, playback, overdub, and undo or redo loops using this compact BOSS stompbox. And of course, the RC-1 retains the BOSS quality and performance that musicians around the world have come to expect and rely on.

On the top panel, there is a new and innovative loop indicator, which consists of a 24-segment LED laid out in a circular pattern. You can quickly and easily determine the current status of the Rec/Overdub/Play modes. With a maximum 12 minutes of stereo recording time, the RC-1 is capable of capturing any extended performance that you can create or imagine! The stereo in/out jacks can be used with stereo effects and amplifiers. Additionally, they allow you to connect stereo instruments, such as synthesizers. Other convenient features include battery and AC power, as well as flexible external foot switching capabilities. The RC-1 is an especially great partner to start enjoying looping!

If all you want is a practice looper to jam to your own lo-fi loops, this is a good pedal. If you want something easy to use, this is a good pedal. But the sound quality just isn't there for me and it sounded very muddy compared to the original signal. I returned it to try the RC-5 instead. RC-1 is half the pricepoint; but also half the fidelity (16bit vs 32bit). RC-1 has a very shallow learning curve. Within 5 minutes out of the box you can be looping and over-dubbing; if you don't care how it sounds. Not recommended for a live performance situation where fidelity matters.

I was after a simple to use looper for practicing leads over chord changes at home and this fits the bill nicely. The only feature I wish it had was the ability to store a few loops. It will store the last loop you recorded but it would be nice to be able to scroll through a few previous ones. That being said, having to redo various loops all the time means that you get better at looping. Anyways it’s a Boss so the quality and reliability is a given.

Just picked this pedal up today. Still got a lot to figure out, but for me, it's like having your own personal rhythm guitarist. You can record anything on here and it plays back, then you can jam with it. Good for practicing.

Typical BOSS build, it will probably last forever. The visual loop is an awesome feature and helped fast track timing practice. I changed the default setting of record-overdub-playback to record-play-overdub. I also added a Boss FS7 to have a single stomp for stop and one for undo. No memory onboard to save multiple tracks but that hasn't been an issue for me. It does store the current loop indefinitely. So for live use or gigs, you may want to look elsewhere for that feature. Quite frankly if it is being used for home practice why not play that rhythm chord progression first anyway? My only complaint is the remote jack is so close to the input jack that it made patch cord selection a pain to keep the pedal board tidy.

You can change the way it sequences your pedal stomps for looping, I found this useful as I didnt like the default settings. it is as straight forward as you can get and it is highly recomended if you are new to guitar because it will make YOU the listener of what you play, and it will give you a feel for actually crating layers in music.... for the price, It is an awesome pedal, the biggest downside is that it has limit in its range, and it has no memory... I would ( now having bought THIS pedal ) spend the extra dough to have the one with memory banks, BUT... if price is an issue.. this pedal will serve you well... even with another, future loop pedal purchase, I would maybe put this one in a different place in a pedal chain, to gain or loose effects in my loops...

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
