Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster, Rosewood Fingerboard - Sonic Blue
This product is no longer available.
Fender's Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster guitar tears the place down with extra-scorching Strat sound and style. Its three Texas Special single-coil pickups are wired for supercharged tonal versatility, with a special V6 rotary switch (disguised as the middle tone knob) that delivers six distinct onboard-preamp tone settings from wiry single-coil to searing lead. The S-1 switch built into the volume knob bypasses the preamp completely for pure Strat tone.

Other features include a tinted maple neck with "modern C" profile and large '70s-style headstock, 9.5"-radius maple or rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, five-way pickup switch, four-ply aged white pearloid pickguard, three aged white control knobs (master volume/S-1, V6, master tone), and vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge.

I know, it's a weird title. I've had this guitar for a little under two years so I've seen it's ins and outs. It's a lovely looking guitar with really nice tone. I particularly like how it sounds coming out of the neck pick-up. However, it's got a few hiccups. For starters, the input jack frequently gets a lot of scratching from moving with the guitar. This is a fairly common problem among all guitars and really isn't that big of a deal, but it shows that the part is lower quality. But the biggest problem with the guitar is the pick-up selector. The additional S-1 pick-up can add some sweet tone, but the pick-up selector really breaks the whole set-up. I have, not just frequent, but constant problems with the pick-up selector disconnecting when switching between pick-ups. If I touch it, I lose connection and have to quickly run through all the connections until it connects again. I've taken it in twice now while it was under warranty and each time I'm told that I can 'fix' the problem by spraying it with compressed air. This has been done in store and I've done this myself, but the problem keeps coming back, sometimes even in the same day. A good quality part shouldn't have this issue. This is a HUGE problem and makes this guitar a liability when playing a live show. I love this guitar, I really really do. Which makes it all the worse when it has such a fundamental flaw in its function. Ideally the part should be replaced with something of much better quality, but with the additional S-1 pick-up, I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing that.

This particular model was brought to my attention when I noticed that it was on sale. I had been looking to buy my first strat, so I decided to check out this guitar. The first one I bought had internal problems that would cause strange static noises when the V6 switch was bypassed, so I switched that one out for another identical one. The new one I received was absolutely amazing! The V6 switch works great and provides a huge range of tones, the colours are unique, and the neck and finish are great. I am very happy with this guitar.

I've had this incredible guitar for about a month now. It is simply the most versatile guitar I have ever played. The V6 preamp is amazing. Nice and fat at 6, thin and crisp at 1. And if that's not enough hit the S1 and you bypass the preamp completely. The quality is first rate although the free gigbag is actually embarrassing. This mexi Stratocaster is my new favourite.

There are two ways of thinking about this guitar, you can look at it as a MIM standard with WAY more than $110 worth of upgrades for only that much more. Or, you can think of it as an American special without the 'Made in the USA' sticker on the back, a preamp circuit and a much smaller pricetag. However you look at it, great value. The guitar itself is a Mexican standard with Texas blues oriented upgrades and an S1 switch. Aesthetically it has the large CBS headstock (which I know some may dislike) and a pearloid pickguard which lookes particularly classy with the 3 tone sunburst. The upgrades to the electronics are where you really get your moneys worth. It comes standard with Texas special pickups, giving the guitar a bit more attitude. The S1 circuit gives you a ton more versatility in the range of tones you can get, but it is an active preamp so batteries are required. The guitar itself is solid despite being made in not-america. The fretwork and finish is well done and the hardware os of good quality. It stays in tune fairly well and is more than comfortable to play. The trem is nothing too special but can definatly hold its own with the american counterparts. The rest of the hardware is of similar quality, nothing less than what you would expect. Fender charges at an amazingly low rate for all of the features included with this baby, giving it supreme value while still maintaining the performance that you can rely on. I would fully recomend this guitar even over the classic 50s and 60s style strats up the mexican range to anyone in the market for a new strat. Good luck finding it in Canada though, I had to wait 3 weeks for mine to arrive from Arizona through the L&M toronto HQ.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
