I just had to write this review I have two of these amps. I did have one of these twenty's and a 15 watt acoustic About 2 years ago we got flooded out in the big B.C Nov. flood. My basement is 7.6 and we had 5.6 water in it. I got my guitars out before the water works started but, in the panic of it all forgot the amps. Day after the main event I got back in the house which wasn't easy looked down the basement steps everything down there was floating including the 20 watt but not the 15 watt. After we got back in the place to start cleaning up, I cleaned this 20 watt off plugged it in and it worked just like new and still is, so I bought another to match it. Love these amps and as I said they even float and keep going strong. Mik

It has a good set of voices and effects. Has a good set of effects to it, good volume, and an acceptable sound quality... Probably one of the best amplifiers for under $200. Good enough for wide range of musicians, whether for the the beginner or intermediate level guitarist.

I picked up this amp as a practice amp to just have at my own place, I was extremely surprised with how loud it is for a 20W SS amp. The effects and gain are excellent on it. There's a bit of hissing at times but I mean, it's under $200. I'm definitely happy with the purchase. I don't think you'll find a better value for a practice amp. Honestly, it could probably keep up with a drum kit during a jam.

Exceeded expectations especially for cleaner tones. Loud enough to have fun for sure
I find that the wah and reverb effects are cool. Delay effect not the greatest
The smaller headphone jack is nice touch (I use the ear buds that came w my iphone)
Anyway super fun amp to mess around with and cheap

I love this amp for the price...loads of features and sounds great. I have to comment on a previous review called "Review Update" because he or she was complaining of low end not being on all "voices", Actually, it does a great job of replicating older Fender amps and some of those amps had loads of low end and some didn't so that is why some of the voices have more low end than others.

I owned a Fender 40 watt Blues Deluxe Reissue Tweed tube amp, which I recently sold because it was way more than I needed. After reading and watching the reviews of several amps, I decided on the Fender Champion 20 watt.
I must say that it delivered a lot more than I expected. The sounds and volume are absolutely great. Added is the fact that I can play with headphones on, so I don't disturb everyone around me. I would recommend this amp to anyone who is looking for a small amp that delivers a multitude of sounds. I love Fender amps and guitars.
I live in an area that has no real music stores and had to order the amp from Long & McQuade. For $24 it was sent to Cold Lake, Alberta from Toronto, quite amazing.

I picked this amp up as I needed a small amp with onboard effects that would be loud enough to keep up with a small drum kit. After playing around with voicing and effects for an hour, I’ve concluded that it’s an excellent purchase. It’s much louder than I expected from 20 solid state watts through an 8” driver. It’s a bit lacking in bass - no surprise. The effects and voicing are easy to use. The Fender modes sound really nice, and it responds to pick attack much as a tube amp does. The high gain modes are less pleasing - especially the “metal” settings. Crank the gain anywhere past 3 or 4 in these modes, and things quickly descend into old-school solid-state distortion and artifacting. I’m not sure how usable the high gain modes would be in a band setting. However, that’s not my priority. For the clean to moderately distorted tones I was after, it really does sound great.

Pros:
* Great variety of voices - you should be able to find the right voice for almost anything you want to play
* Nice to have a basic selection of effects built in
* Overall, the most logical and easy-to-remember controls for amp voicing and effects out of any comparable amp (practice amp with modelling and effects) I found
Cons:
* A lot of background hiss - would be unacceptable in a $20 pair of computer speakers, should not happen in a $140 device. Tried another one in the store; same problem. Google "fender champion hiss" and you'll find it's a common problem with this amp.
* Volume knob doesn't do anything until it's nearly at 2 (probably a quality control problem rather than a design flaw), and then volume increases so quickly that (depending on other settings) it can be too loud to use in a home, the natural habitat of a practice amp, by the time it's at 3. Checked with a friend who has the same model and his is also stupidly loud at similar volume settings.

I was familiar with the Champion 10 as it comes in the Squire package and had a big sound for such a little amp. So when I was looking for another small amp I came across this one.
What I like about the 20 is it has some built in effects that are great for those on a tight budget or just starting out playing. There is a separate control for distortion (the Metal setting really rips) and there is another control for reverb, delay, etc. Although I have my own overdrive and delay pedals I do use the reverb.
Most important for me is the headphone jack and the input jack. This way I can listen and learn from YouTube videos, play along to backing tracks from GarageBand and RiffStation all on my good quality headphones so I don't bother the rest of the household.

This amp lives up to all the rave reviews online - just incredible! One point that's obvious to experienced players but wasn't to me: in order to get any gain, you have to turn the volume on your guitar all the way up. I hadn't done that and I thought the gain function was defective. But once I turned it up - wow! Fender should have mentioned this in the manual for the benefit of beginners.

After an entire weekend of tweaking and playing, this amp performed really well, in both clean and dirty/distortion sounds. Effects were also excellent.
Really nice low end on "most of the voices" ...ehem....why...not....all?
So happy with my purchase! :)

So happy with this amp.
My friends and I were ALL stunned about how good it sounds on clean.
We played at least 6 hours non stop, could not put the guitar down!
First tweed amp setting with a "red led" sounded incredibly tubey.
I own a "Twin Amp" and believe me when I say this has the same quality tone but just at an obviously lower wattage. Speaking of wattage, this amp is LOUD for its size and has great low end! Effects are very well done also. Unfortunately the distortions are not well done, hence the 4 on "Features".

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
