I trust this piece of equipment to last for my iPad mini specifically, for my specific setup of an over-the-keyboard view for my piano recordings. The claws really keep the iPad mini securely hanging from above.
Not the most friendly mechanism, but I've figured out how to work it without hurting my fingers. You hold top or bottom side of the iPad towards one claw to expand it width-wise, then also push on the left or right side of the iPad towards another claw to expand it length-wise. However, it does take some time to set up, but it's alright for me to spend that time due to what I'm using it for. It seems to rotate to whatever angle you'd like it to, but it takes some time to get it there -- There are actually two joints of rotation. It sort of confuses me.
Also not the most friendly way to package it -- of course the washers should go on either side -- but I kind of damaged it because I was not familiar with these "things". Oh well. I'll be more careful next time I purchase another one of these.
