Combining sophisticated sound with simple operation, the VE-2 Vocal Harmonist delivers a complete effects solution for all singers, particularly those that perform with guitar. This portable, battery-powered stompbox has everything you need to create polished, studio-quality sounds everywhere you sing, from concert stages and street performances to practicing and having fun at home. The VE-2 magically creates beautiful harmonized vocals that follow your singing, with pitch that automatically tracks the chords played on a connected guitar, a preset key, or a combination of the two. Using one of these three operation modes, it's easy to create perfect real-time harmonies in any key, even if you have no experience with gear or music theory. In addition to harmony, the VE-2 provides essential effects to enhance your voice, such as high-quality reverb/delay and an enhancer with real-time pitch correction. Also included is a USB audio function that allows you to connect to your computer and easily capture impressive VE-2 vocal sounds for music recordings, social media videos, and more.

Enrich Your Vocals with Beautiful Harmonies - Just Plug in Your Guitar and Sing!
When you connect your guitar to the VE-2, the Auto Harmony function detects the chords and key you play and automatically generates the correct harmony as you sing - it's that easy! If you don't play guitar, you can have the guitarist in your group plug in instead, or set the songs key manually with a panel knob. Hybrid mode provides the best of both worlds, following both the guitar chord progression and the current manual setting. This is ideal for times when you're riffing on your axe and singing at the same time - when the guitar chords drop out, the VE-2's manual setting instantly takes over. With these three intuitive methods, you're able to achieve natural, stable harmonies without any knowledge of electronic gear or music theory whatsoever.

A Variety of Harmony Types to Fit Any Style
With 12 different harmony types to choose from in the VE-2, youre sure to find a sound that suits any style of music. Easily selectable with a dedicated panel knob, the types include one or two added voices in various scale intervals above and/or below your own voice. In addition, each type has a variation setting that incorporates more voices for even fuller harmonies. From a little added colour to a rich ensemble sound, it's easy to create impressive vocals with the VE-2.

Friendly User Interface for Simple Operation
The VE-2 is incredibly intuitive for anyone to use, even for vocalists that have no previous experience with sound equipment. Buttons and knob-based controls make it simple to get great sounds instantly, while the handy LED indicators show the current vocal harmony setting at a glance. The integrated multi-function footswitch allows you to turn harmony on/off or bypass the VE-2s sound entirely as you perform, and you can even connect up to two optional footswitches for more control if desired. In addition, you can save three favourite sounds in onboard memories and recall them at the touch of button.

Essentials for a Polished Vocal Sound in One Compact Pedal
You don't have to rely on a sound engineer anymore to make your vocals sound greateverything you need is included in the VE-2. The Echo section provides high-quality reverb, delay, or a mix of both, all intuitively adjustable with a dedicated knob. Pressing the Enhance button once evens out your vocals for a more refined, studio-type sound, while a second press adds in some subtle pitch correction for stable harmony. The XLR input accepts a variety of professional microphone types, including studio-level condenser mics that require phantom power to operate. Phantom power is even available when the VE-2 is operated on batteries, letting you use these high-quality mic types everywhere you perform.

Connect to Your PC and Record Your Vocals
Normally, recording your singing along with real-time harmonies and sound enhancement requires a complicated setup with multiple devices. Not so with the VE-2! Just connect to your computer with a USB cable and use your favorite recording software to capture your voice with harmonies and effects. In addition to music production and songwriting applications, this also gives singers a simple way to achieve impressive vocal sounds while recording performances for social media videos. With the VE-2s Loopback function, you can mix audio playback from your computer with the mic sound, allowing you to easily record sing-alongs with backing tracks and karaoke tunes.

Q & A

Question: I have 2 questions: 1) I currently use the LR baggs VenueDi Pedal and was wondering if these two can work in series with success? 2) How is the auto detect if the guitar is used with a Capo?
- asked on Apr 23, 2024
Answer: They will work together if you run the Venue from the output of the Harmonist.

A capo should not significantly affect the tracking.

For live performing or recording (managed properly). Digital Guitar recognition of Chords and Key make this #1 harmonizer out there. Check the top 10 on the net 2022.... always top 5 or even #1. I agree! easy to use, transparent in sound and wonderful quality reverb and delay.. pedal is extremely easy to use with your guitar, really helps with song appeal. very easy to balance the sound. Enhance feature is Exciter like presence and you can easily manage EQ on this. Simply, wow.

I bought one to try, and I ended up buying another one... I have two different permanent setups in different locations...rather than constantly unplugging - it is easier to get another one... its well worth the investment! It does everything it says it does - once you get the right settings that matches your voice - you're in business!

I love it. I use only one setting that is to harmonize on the third (with a bit of reverb/echo) I use it subtlety on hillbilly choruses. It takes a very little bit of getting used to. I love how it reads the guitar chords. My one issue is that I would like to use a transformer power source but there is little info in the manual. The voltage in power source they suggest does not add up to the same as the batteries. I don't want to burn it out so I just go with batteries which is expensive and unreliable when the batteries die mid performance.

Didn't like the sound of the harmony feature. I now only use it for reverb & echo. The phones/lineout is hardly audible & one of the tiny switches on the back broke off. Not impressed.

I had this unit for a week and as much as it was fun to play with, it did not impress me. I bought it a a portable harmony pedal because of its battery power application to use it for busking and house parties. But in all honesty I used a Voice-live 3 as my main vocal processor and this harmony pedal sounded very digital in comparison. unless you used it very sparingly it sounded very robotic. I returned it. It was not the pedal I was looking for.

Ok. For the price and what it is and the portability..it is a great buy. I have found all harmony pedals are very touchy..just a little too much and it sounds robotic. If you play around you can get it just right and it is amazing. Plus the feature of either you setting the key, letting the guitar do it or a blend of both is great, especially if you incorporate lead guitar. It also feels sturdy..has that Boss feel....i can step on it without fear. Some other ones I have used feel kind of fragile. The batteries last me for a 2 or 3 hour gig or much longer if only using for chorus harmonies...I use the higher end batteries. All in all for the price it is a handy little tool to add to the kit, especially if you are a solo act or even to fill out a band sound.

Traded in my TC Helicon on this unit. Needed a battery powered harmony machine. Expensive mistake. Very dull sound, no richness of quality. The TC Helicon by comparison has an elegant and intuitive sound. Hoping they make a battery powered one soon.

Ok, canned harmonies can seem too fake, especially if you're a solo performer and there's obviously no one else up on stage singing with you. But if you apply the harmonies sparingly - almost subliminally, and just in choice spots - it can add so much to any performance, solo or with a band. But more than harmonies, you get great enhancement from the unit as well, in addition to reverb and delay. After maybe an hour or less of experimenting, I found the perfect settings for my voice in a variety of applications. The end result is that my vox are warmer, clearer, fuller and so much more lush than I could've even imagined coming through my PA system, or any other. Critics and purists might scoff at the notion of vocal enhancement. But the way I see it, the conversion of voice to electronic signals through a microphone is an unnatural process; It doesn't sound natural. Only some frequencies are reproduced, making your voice less than what it is. Why not use the medium to make it more, rather than less? If you don't overdo it, your voice can actually sound more natural in some ways than it does without the processor. Bottom line: Buy it! You won't regret it.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
