I used to own the Harmony G-XT, so this was an upgrade.Take time to read the manual and it's amazing what you can program. It comes with a few hundred pre-sets and I easily downloaded more from the website. The unit allows you to set up favorites and just access the pre-sets you use most often. Setting up your own pre-sets and altering existing pre-sets to create your own is simple and easy once you've read the manual
I bought this used from Long and McQuade for about $165 and it hasn't quit on me in over 3 years and that's doing 200+ shows/year. It's built like a tank.
I'm a solo performer with vocals and guitar, but have also used this for just singing and no guitar and it works great. The trick with these harmonizers is to not overdo it. I only use it for certain chorus's, or to create a specific song effect and it adds sparkle to my performance.

Annoyances first, then I'll get to the good stuff. There's no obvious power switch. You have to yank the power cord. Wahh? It's also kind of just ugly. Although built like a tank. The user interface is easy if you just want to flick through a lot of presets, but what if you want to flip from preset 1 to preset 50... that's not obvious. The gain was set to full when I first plugged it in.. and the gain is hidden on the side... so watch it... I nearly blew my head off. There's no click on - click off effect. The manual that comes with it is literally a comic book printed in comic font. It's next to useless. The downloadable manual is lacking in detail. THEN You have to program and toggle through presets. Also.. they talk about "Hit"... well... without "Hit" everything sounds the same... so why bother... it's basically... three stettings on the "hit" button... bypass(talk), a touch of reverb and EQ, and then the grand effect. OK.. that's dumb, but once you figure out presets, you can work around that and essentially setup a series of banks and keep "Hit" turned on. Programing is not intuitive, but once you do get past the "how to" it's easy enough. So... swap, swap... change some defaults.. setup my banks and HOLY GREATNESS.... first off.. they call this acoustic... I'm not sure why they limit themselves.. there are built in mics that tune harmony to the loudest thing nearby. That's me!!! I'm playing Pink Floyd's TIme and using harmony for the chorus.. it's a thing of beauty. I do a few electric tunes with no effects.. clean channel... it's perfect without the the guitar pass through. The ambient mics pic up my key and background make me swoon. I go back to Floyd and Comfortably Numb to toss in harmony on the chorus... I'm freaking David Gilmour with backup singers. I haven't hooked up an acoustic to try the guitar effects... I'm not sure I ever will as I have so many others and I don't want to bother with the XLR out... To give some context.. I'm a one man band right now.. doing Floyd, Hendrix, Zep, Tom P, and other 3-6 chord classics... I record everything I try to make sure I heard what I think I heard... and this thing definitely improves the show... So... why 4 star and not 5? It should come with a detailed manual... that's it... This will be an integral part of my show for sure!!
