Good sound but doesn't handle much power before crapping out.

From the time I turned them on the tweeters in both my new speakers buzzed . Because both had the same buzzing I thought that it might be coming from a fridge or fernace . I took them back and got KRKs . They have no extra sounds coming from them , so I must assume that the Tannoys where the problem .All in the speakers sounded good and the Tannoy rep. Via email was very helpful and LnM was exolent about taking them back ( very easy and understanding )

To everyone who want's to... or already has purchased these monitors I have read on a forum that there was a production error on the reveals and the corrected ones start from serial # 808174 onwards and you should be able to exchange for free. hope this helps

After doing loads of research and A/B testing many studio monitors at several stores I settled on these Tannoy Reveal 502's. I took them home and set them up and my first impression was that they sounded fantastic for a 5" driver. Very balanced with an extremely wide stereo field and huge sweet spot. Just enough low end to produce or mix most genres or styles of music. The high end was not overly harsh with controls to adjust for the room you are in and very detailed mid-range. They literally sounded exactly the way I had hoped.. but then it hit me. There was a not so subtle electrical hum/buzz being emitted from the pair of monitors, more noticeably in one than the other. I had read many reviews which had mentioned this and the company did address it saying they were aware of the issue and would replace them, but I assumed based on what I read this was becoming less frequent due to improved quality control because of the complaints. I decided to give it another day of listening and tried to ignore or get used to the sound of them because they had so many qualities that I really loved but sadly the longer I listened to them the more apparent and irritating the sound became. While I will still be returning these monitors and trying a different brand I don't want to discredit these monitors at all and would still recommend them to anyone. tldr - If you're lucky enough to get a pair that aren't noisy/buzzy as all get out, than you've got yourself an exceptionally great pair of studio monitors for less than $200 each.
