The composer's comment to Vertigo: The piece was commissioned by Dag Jensen and had its world premiere in Amsterdam 1992 under the title "A brief study for bassoon solo". In Dag's opinion (and mine, too) the title was not very exciting, so we went for a more spectacular one: "Vertigo". It has no connection (which I honestly wish it had!) to Alfred Hitchcock's film of the same name. The title simply establishes the fact that fright of heights is no joke, neither for depths too.
