Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Swing Series Jazz Guitar Tin String Set - .011-.047

5 models to choose from:
This is the legendary flatwound jazz guitar string! A list of its players reads lika a Jazz Hall of Fame and it's still the undisputed king of flatwounds, for many of today's jazz greats. A true flatwound (not a "ground wound" or "compressed wound" like some of the pretenders) with glassy smooth polished nickel winding on a round core, it has the perfect balance of fundamental to overtones required for traditional jazz. Some players claim that its mellow, powerful tones actually improve with age!

I know these are pricey flatwound strings but they are lovely. A set of 11's on my Epiphone Les Paul Special are a delight to play and changed the guitar. Have set of 12's ready to install on my Godin Kingpin, can't wait.

These strings are simply amazing.
These are NOT dull and lifeless like cheaper flatwounds. They are bright, with a very strong fundamental and beautiful subtle overtones. Chords ring clear and single note lines are tight and flow smoother than with any other strings I've tried. Tonnes of sustain, yet notes seem to get out of each other's way even on fast runs and crunchy chords. I'm not a big high gain player, but they sound incredible with bluesy crunch, and with my p19 fuzz. Bends are no issue with the 10's either.
And don't even get me started about the feel. They're buttery smooth and the bit of extra tension allowed me to get a ludicrously low action on my SG.
The quality is also outstanding. As long as you aren't a heavy handed player, these strings sound great for months even with heavy use. My last set were on my SG for over 6 months and I inky changed them because I wanted to go down from 11's to 10's. They may seem expensive, but the longetivity you get out of them makes them incredible value.
After trying many different brands of round/flat wound strings, I have finally settled on these and I don't think I'll ever use another kind of string.
