Q & A
Question: What is the medium scale length between bridge and string winding?
Actually, what’s the bridge to winding lengths for Long Scale, Medium Scale and Short Scale? I have several different scale basses I would like to try these on.

the G string's silk wrapping comes unraveled at the machine head and kept slipping making it impossible to tune...it slips and then pops out of the peg. Perhaps I got a bad set but at the price of bass strings, you'd expect better quality.

I have a half dozen basses with these on. I do try various strings, as I don't want everything in the closet to sound the same. I have never bought a bad string. I've never worn one out. Didn't break any. I can't say that with other brands. I like the sound, like the feel, cheaper than some. Can't go wrong, if you are thinking of trying them.

I put the 45-100 Chrome Flatwounds on my Fender J-bass. I stepped down from 50-105 rounds because I had read that flats were higher tension and so I wanted to compensate for this. They feel silky-smooth and sound great, and mellow across the range -- none of the "pingyness" I was getting in the mid-to-high range of my rounds. After trying these I will be putting flats on my P-bass.

These strings are smooth to the touch and have a deep mellow tone. They do not have the "pingyness" in the mid and high range that I found with roundwounds which I had on my Squier P-bass. I went to a slighter lighter gauge (45-100) because I read that flatwounds tend to be higher tension. Perfect choice. I think they play easier than my 50-105 roundwounds. I originally bought these so I would have a different sounding bass from my Fender jazz bass, but after putting these on my P-bass, I will get a set for my J-bass as well.
