Lotus XL2 Cup Trumpet Mouthpiece - Size 3, Brass
3 models to choose from:
The XL2 is a great option if you want an even fatter sound and a wider array of tone qualities than a traditional C cup will allow.
Since it's a bit deeper than a C cup, it adds sweetness and an extra dimension of body to your sound, and yet the upper register is still easily accessible, with plenty of excitement when you play loud. That excitement starts to show at a slightly louder volume than a C cup, however, which gives you a wider dynamic range to explore before brilliance starts to dominate the tone. This is especially ideal in Classical settings when a rich, broad sound is preferred even at louder volumes. With that said, there's still plenty of firepower for the most challenging upper-register phrases, from Alpine Symphony to West Side Story.
With this mouthpiece, the upper register doesn't go flat, so alternate fingerings won't be necessary for high D, Eb, or E and many passages in the symphonic repertoire and in film scores become so much easier to play.
Jazz players: This mouthpiece can absolutely help you add more personality and depth to your sound. The note targets are enormous, which brings more confidence when improvising. The huge range of tone colors you can create makes it very easy to express yourself with tons of nuance and character. Bring added richness to your ballad playing while also adding firepower to your Bebop lines and upper register adventures.
If you have always wanted the big sound of a 1C but need a narrower rim; simply choose your preferred rim number and add it to the XL2 cup.
