While still playable in first position, there are many fourth finger extensions that would lend towards shifting practice instead. Each duet has a specific technical focus. Certain techniques are revisited throughout the book, with each visit increasing in complexity. Musically interesting, these could be used for recital or violin ensemble. There is more to Trott than double stops!
